I want to create a new folder inside of My Folders called Phone Stuff. How do I do that?
Open your bookmarks manager (Ctrl+Shift+B) and get into the 'My folders' folder. Either click the new folder icon near the top of the page (its a folder with a + in it) or right click a blank area in the man window and click 'new folder'.
After I have the new folder I want to move several bookmarks into it.
When in the bookmarks manager you should be able to click and drag to select entries. You can also hover you mouse over each entry and click the check mark on them to select them.

There are so many things wrong with the new bookmark system.
If you are using them as icons, they take up loads of space, so you can't see many on screen. Even if showing them in list format, they are still too spaced out and you don't get many on screen. A more compact format would be far better, both in the bookmarks window and the folder list.Add a bookmarks extension manager like Chrookmarks for Chrome.

I use with it, the Opera extension, Add Bookmark. https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/add-bookmark/?display=en
They're a very good team. When you click on the Chrookmarks icon on the icon bar, you get a nice vertical display that doesn't take up too much space at all. It's very neat and orderly.. Chrookmarks organizes the folders for you alphabetically or chronologically. You don't have to do anything there, other than to choose the way you want it organized.
Remember though, to download a Chrome extension easily, you need the Opera extension, called Download Chrome Extension, https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/download-chrome-extension-9/?display=en

As for the Opera extension, Add Bookmarks, you get a star icon in the address bar on the right, and also, when you right click on a web page (that you want to make a bookmark for), a star icon can be selected. When you click on the star icon, it sets up your taking the bookmark, and easily storing it in the folder you want.
Now if if the cursor for your mouse happens to be on the upper right hand side of the browser, it's much easier to open your bookmarks this way (by clicking on the Chrookmarks icon). As for taking the bookmark, you get two ways to do it (from the star icon on the address bar, or right clicking on an empty space on the page you want to save to get the star icon). So it's often quicker to take the bookmark with Add Bookmark. The Opera bookmark system still works, so you can make use of it too.

Thank you Lem729. Your directions were very clear and these extensions fixed everything that I think is wrong with the new Opera. I am once again a happy user because with these extensions giving the user control I can get work done!

Neo Opera is silky smooth and pretty. Other than that it is useless to me because the native bookmarks are atrocious. I won't bother installing extensions etc. I keep trying it once and a while to see what progress is being made. Overall it's a joke.
The Vivaldi project is already vastly better in terms of layout. All people who liked Olde Opera bookmarks should try Vivaldi. It is in nascent form and far from finished but the company is active in development and engaged with users; they solicit feedback and suggestions.

Why trash Opera? If you're happy with another browser, why try to stir up trouble here and recruit Opera users for some other browser?

Vivaldi is still piece of crap and have no match for old Opera. Still no browsers have no match for old Opera (except speed of course and some website compatibility). Vivaldi is still some pre-alfa product without features and with ugly design. Even if I dont like new Opera I have to admit that Vivaldi is useless.

Why they just don't do what IE Firefox does put the bookmarks in the top right corner with drop down menu to see them what's so hard about that.
Or has opera made this possible now as I have not used opera for a while so don't know about the latest versions I stopped using opera because I couldn't access my bookmarks easily like I can in firefox. -

You can access bookmarks from the Opera menu. You can also enable a bookmarks toolbar if you like. There is also a sidebar for extensions in the development release. There are extensions that you can add to that which allow you to access bookmarks.

If your cursor is on the right side, it makes accessing your bookmarks simple. You can always if your cursor is elsewhere, or any time you want, access your bookmarks through the native Opera setup also. What Chrookmarks gives you (or some other bookmarks manager extension) is an "option" to access your bookmarks easily when your cursor is on the right side of the browser. Now I have already mentioned how it does a lot better than the Opera bookmarks setup in my earlier post. My point here is that it is useful just for its ability to give easy access to your bookmarks when one's cursor is on the right side of browser without even considering its other advantages.

It's a real bad thing that you have only one level to store the bookmarks. Another bad thing is, you have to save attachments before you can open them.

I don't understand what you mean. Opera's bookmark system has folders, so theres not only one level.

Thats a matter of opinion. Generally its a good idea to let your systems scanners have a look at a file before you try and open it. That said, I have my files set to auto-save in the same folder every time and just double click the pop up the appears when they finish and it opens.

They are working on adding a tree view for bookmarks (you can see an early/buggy version of it in opera:flags), so the one level thing shouldn't be a limitation in the future.
As lando mentioned above, you aren't limited to storing bookmarks in one level, it does let you create as many subfolders as you want, the only limitation is only being able to view one level from the sidebar on the bookmarks manager and heart menu which they are working on a tree view for.

last week, i have downloaded opera but i lose track about where the EXPORT BOOKMARK MENU
i keep searching in menu and setting but i know it have gonedid any suggestion for me where i can download the alternative way for this?

Keep in mind that this thread is somewhat dated. I don't think Opera 29 was available when the OP posted that (but I could be mistaken, but considering the thread...)

i keep searching in menu and setting but i know it have goneYah, that seems to be an issue: you cannot (easily) export your bookmarks. You'll either need a plugin (extension), some are mentioned in this thread, or grab the bookmarks file from the Opera data folder manually.
The Productivity extensions have several bookmark managers.

As a longtime and happy Opera user I don't understand how something as essential as favorites (or, in this case, bookmarks) can be hidden like they are in Opera 29. It almost looks like it was deliberately done; or is this just bad design? I use bookmarks every single time I am on the Internet, and in my opinion this "where the heck are the dang bookmarks" system has no future. I have already uninstalled Opera 29 and 30 and when Opera 12 stops functioning (it has already started to), it's bye-bye Opera and Hello Internet Explorer or Hello Firefox.

Because I was searching for something else but this post showed up and caught my interest. Maybe you have an answer to my previous comment, which was about the problem I was trying to find more information about.
