Stash

Meh...really wish they could've been kept separate, but it's not a showstopper, lol. Thanks man.

This is bad news for me. I will deliver a tech-speech tomorrow about Opera, including Stash as one of its key features. Now Stash is gone

I think that before going to stable you should warn the users of the missing Stash or provide a way to migrate the links in Stash to the new bookmark system.

The links that were in Stash should be automatically imported into the "unsorted bookmarks" section of the bookmarks manager.

I don't like this It was such an innovative feature that encouraged to stop tab hoarding and save for later instead.
I actually made this as an extension to Firefox with a sidebar.
I can see why people think it is duplicate functionality - but at the same time it is better for less distraction that they are completely separated (At least I would argue).

Hi @t0ken @leocg @sandalian @plovec @davehawley @dezzadk, to correct the facts regarding the Stash feature:
-
If you are going to use the Bookmarks Manager, as Dave mentined it here, you can find the Stash items in the "Unsorted bookmarks" folder on the BM page (Ctrl+Shift+B) - in case, that they are not there, try this workaround: close the Opera, go to your Opera's profile folder (find the path in O-Menu>About Opera>Paths>Profile), open the "Local State" file in your text editor, find the line, that contains: "stash_imported": true, and replace "true" with "false", save the changes, close the file, and relaunch the Opera, then go to the "Unsorted bookmarks" again.
-
In case, that you can live without the BM, and instead of it you want to use the old Stash solution (you can't use both at the same time), you can simply disable the BM (go to the address bar, and type: opera:flags#bookmarks, press enter, select "Disabled" from the drop-down list, and restart the Opera). After that, you can use the old Stash as you used it before \m/

Even though I didn't see yet the new bookmark system of Opera 25 I did liked so much the Speed Dial (ordinary bookmarks) + Stash (read it later) combination

I moved stash.db from Opera Stable to Developer, but unsorted bookmarks are empity

But that probably means this functionality will go away regardless? Since this option will probably fade away and you can't have Bookmarks Manager and Stash alongside each other.
Hm. Well. Just thought it was a handy feature since this is the only solution to tab hoarding that I know of. I can see that bookmarks is essentially the same and at the same time not really.

Hi @sidneyneto, you can try this workaround: close the Opera, go to your Opera's profile folder (find the path in O-Menu>About Opera>Paths>Profile), open the "Local State" file in your text editor, find the line, that contains: "stash_imported": true, and replace "true" with "false", save the changes, close the file, and relaunch the Opera, then go to the "Unsorted bookmarks" again.
Hi @dezzadk, I can confirm for sure, that: the old Heart menu (including this adding to Stash from this menu), has been removed in the Opera developer 26.0.1646.0, although in the previous developer version: 26.0.1632.0, it opens and works without problem (to use it, you need to disable the opera:flags#bookmarks). Nevertheless, if you disable the Bookmarks Manager, you can still use the Stash button on the Speed Dial (even in 26.0.1646.0), and you can also add a website to Stash using the context menu - right click on the page, and select "Add to Stash".

Why are you lot acting like Stash has gone forever? Yes, we now have Unsorted Bookmarks but it behaves exactly like Stash. You click the heart icon in the address bar and the link is immediately stored in Unsorted Bookmarks, or right click add to Bookmarks. I don't however like icons instead of webpage previews (url on a coloured background??) but to me its functionality is really no different.
Also, just for amusement, its funny how many people moaned stash was pointless/useless/rubbish/not a bookmarks replacement when Opera 15 was released!

Why is it Bookmarks or stash? Why can't we have both. If opera 25 had panels, like Opera 12, then we could have more options for customizing. I can just see unsorted bookmarks cluttering up the bookmark manager. It is not the same as stash. I like everything neat and tidy with folders. Stash was not meant to be neat and tidy; it was meant for temporary storage. Why can't we have both.

Stash is in more than just Unsorted Bookmarks. My folders contains a lot of potential uses that filled the old uses for Stash. Like Reading list, Videos (put YouTube stuff here you want to see), Shopping, Travel, or create your own new folders, Recipes, Restaurants, movies, whatever. You can even call a new folder Stash, and put your Stash type stuff there.
