@SeniorPool And I try to install it so I can use that the VPN pro comes up with with a message saying VPN server error.
VPN is temporarily unavailable.Opera is resolving the problem.
I have been trying to install it now for the last three days or so.
But still no luck with it I have submitted a ticket as well with them waiting to hear back

@spock99 The error message you're describing is just the generic error message displayed by the Opera browser. A more detailed error message, containing the error code that is necessary for us to diagnose the issue, will be displayed by your VPN Pro app. If you're having trouble downloading the app, or if the app is already installed, but you're having trouble connecting, please, find the relevant article in the Troubleshooting section of the VPN Pro FAQ.

              In particular, try these solutions:

              • make sure that the VPN Pro app is turned on (check if it’s running in Task Manager/Activity Monitor),
              • log out and back into your Opera Account by pressing the user icon in the top-right corner of the browser,
              • press "Connect" on the VPN Pro app menu in your system tray (Windows) or menu bar (macOS), instead of connecting from the browser; this is the area near icons such as Wi-Fi; to open the app menu, just right-click on the VPN Pro icon.
              • go to VPN Pro settings and press the “Reconnect” or “Refresh” button,
              • update Opera (to do this, you can open this page: opera://about),
              • update or reinstall the VPN Pro app.

I have the same problem as the original author.

                1. Trying to connect from the VPN icon in the Windows tray
                2. Connect failed (error code: 13XXX, I don't remember)
                3. Uninstalling Opera Browser from Windows and reinstalling it
                4. Re-logging in to Opera Browser
                5. Re-installing Opera VPN client
                6. Re-error during installation
Message: Service 'Opera VPN Pro service (VPNProService) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient previleges to start services.

I have no problems with the Internet connection and my subscription period is still valid.
Opera Browser on my phone (Android) has no problems with the VPN connection. It seems that the problem is with Windows, so I hope the administrator can help me solve it.

@AIDENTYLEE I am having the same problem. I couldn't solve it on both the phone and the Windows computer. Formatting Windows didn't solve the problem.

@SergioRoda I had to install .NET v.8.0.16 from Microsoft on my Windows 10 laptop, which seems to have sorted it, I think. I only tried it quickly after installation.

Though not for this thread I've had problems with MacOs since the VPN Pro upgrade on 1st July.

Same here. It first asked me to install .NET v.8 or above. I did. Then it started giving the sufficient privileges error. It started happening with the recent Opera update.

Everywhere I see the support people just pasting the link to the support page but there is nothing related to the issue in there.

There is an issue in reddit without any solution: https://www.reddit.com/r/operabrowser/comments/107bgx1/cannot_fix_vpn_not_working_on_opera_browser

There is this policy editor setting mentioned here and there which did not solve the issue for me: https://www.blackfog.com/knowledge-base/privileges-to-install-system-services

@Rob-B I've been unable to run VPN Pro on my Mac for a few days - Opera support have asked me to send screenshots and have not said there is an issue their end. I didn't know it had been 'upgraded'...

                          Hi there @mt000000,
to fix insufficient privileges issue you need to install .NET v.8.0.16 exactly, it cannot be any other version. You can find it on Microsoft website. Please remember to reboot your computer and then try updating the VPN Pro client again.

                            Hi @daemonika

That is an oddly specific version but it worked. I uninstalled the other .NET version and installed 8.0.16 and I was able to install VPN pro without getting the privileges error. Thank you.

Here is the .NET version link: https://builds.dotnet.microsoft.com/dotnet/WindowsDesktop/8.0.16/windowsdesktop-runtime-8.0.16-win-x64.exe

@mt000000 this solution worked for me as well, thank you for including the link to the version of .Net required.

                              also, OMG WTF, Opera!
