VPN not working

I have the same problem as the original author.
- Trying to connect from the VPN icon in the Windows tray
- Connect failed (error code: 13XXX, I don't remember)
- Uninstalling Opera Browser from Windows and reinstalling it
- Re-logging in to Opera Browser
- Re-installing Opera VPN client
- Re-error during installation
Message: Service 'Opera VPN Pro service (VPNProService) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient previleges to start services.
I have no problems with the Internet connection and my subscription period is still valid.
Opera Browser on my phone (Android) has no problems with the VPN connection. It seems that the problem is with Windows, so I hope the administrator can help me solve it. -

@AIDENTYLEE I am having the same problem. I couldn't solve it on both the phone and the Windows computer. Formatting Windows didn't solve the problem.

@SergioRoda I had to install .NET v.8.0.16 from Microsoft on my Windows 10 laptop, which seems to have sorted it, I think. I only tried it quickly after installation.
Though not for this thread I've had problems with MacOs since the VPN Pro upgrade on 1st July.

Same here. It first asked me to install .NET v.8 or above. I did. Then it started giving the sufficient privileges error. It started happening with the recent Opera update.
Everywhere I see the support people just pasting the link to the support page but there is nothing related to the issue in there.
There is an issue in reddit without any solution: https://www.reddit.com/r/operabrowser/comments/107bgx1/cannot_fix_vpn_not_working_on_opera_browser
There is this policy editor setting mentioned here and there which did not solve the issue for me: https://www.blackfog.com/knowledge-base/privileges-to-install-system-services

@Rob-B I've been unable to run VPN Pro on my Mac for a few days - Opera support have asked me to send screenshots and have not said there is an issue their end. I didn't know it had been 'upgraded'...

Hi @daemonika
That is an oddly specific version but it worked. I uninstalled the other .NET version and installed 8.0.16 and I was able to install VPN pro without getting the privileges error. Thank you.
Here is the .NET version link: https://builds.dotnet.microsoft.com/dotnet/WindowsDesktop/8.0.16/windowsdesktop-runtime-8.0.16-win-x64.exe

@daemonika thank you so much! It worked for me too. Thanks for the specific version of the .NET. The issue still continue.
