@ktxgio The fix is for migrated profiles. Non-migrated profiles didn't need the fix. However, the new fix now causes it to happen in non-migrated profiles.
Just goto the URL
opera://about
, take note of the "install" path, close Opera and delete opera_gx_splash.exe in the latest version folder in the install folder for now. And, repeat on each update till it's really fixed for all situations. -

@paul-durham Yes. The announcement is incorrect. There's no 102.0.4880.28 public build. The 102.0.4880.29 build you have is the correct build number.

@max1c: I am in the same situation and didn't had any of the mentioned bug. Should we wait for the browser to update itself or download the installer ?

The announcements page at:
https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/category/stable-2/#:~:text=Stable update
Does not show the version number as in previous updates. Please fix this documentation bug. Here are the previous v101 announcements further down the page: (why change now?. I'm sure this is unintentional and should be easily fixed.):

Start Page never starts.
I have 2 start page set to SpeedDial and Youtube. viz. chrome://startpageshared/ and https://www.youtube.com/
Note: The page address is HTTPS for sure. When I start Opera then the YouTube page Never Loads. It just sits there waiting and waiting.
My workaraound is to simply Not have a start page.
Note:
This bug has been in a number of previous versions. I have reported this as a bug but no action yet. I am reporting it here again. -

Just got updated to version 102.0.4880.29 and now upon launching Opera, it shows the animated logo non stop. Haven't tested yet if it has the many other bugs reported over the last week.

(I don't know correct terms, English is not my first language.)
I'm unable to resize browser window.
Browser gives just options "minimize" and "maximize", nothing inbetween.
Can't have two browser windows open simultaneously side-by-side.
(I either can watch horse racing or play games, not both.)Operating system Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS.
Still exists in 102.0.4880.32.

I see this on Windows at least. The button between the minimize and close buttons is just a maximize button instead of a maximize/restore down button. However, that's fixed in Opera Developer at least (both look-wise and function-wise).

@titaniumnx I could observe that the animation also shows when I open a web link in another application that redirects to opera (with the bowser already opened).
For instance, I click on a URL from a pdf in abobe, it will open in opera and the animation plays.
Saw that with Acrobat Reader DC and Outlook on Windows 10. -

Not fixed on latest stable version, 102.0.4880.33. (At least on Linux Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS)

@kmielczarczyk: how do I turn it off completely, even when a new release comes up?

Opera has become a huge mess. Ever since version 100, developers try to improve on things that were already good. Opera use to be very streamlined now every release has become worse and worse. Been using Opera since 2013 but now its time for a change. Switched over to Vivaldi. browser. Shame but I think Opera is going to lose a lot of market share over these screw ups.
