Creating an Island manually is to complicated for me

@ghirahim Ok. The "tab Island" doesn't work, nor does the "stacking". Edge can do this, why not Opera...or Firefox for that matter!

@terryflorida Tabs island works here. If you say how it's not working, maybe someone can help.

@leocg I've followed the instructions (ctl + left click) over a test of 3 tabs to "tab island," but they don't connect to each other. Maybe I'm misunderstanding this.

@terryflorida The option to automatically create tabs islands is enabled?
-

I've no idea. Where is that option? I didn't even see that listed anywhere.

@terryflorida It should be in the User Interface section of the settings page.

I have example.com, arstechnica.com, and hardforum.com tabs on the tab bar. example.com is focused. So, I ctrl + left-click arstechnica.com to select it too and repeat for hardforum.com. There are then 3 tabs selected. Then, I right-click on any of those selected tabs and choose "create tab island". That works fine for me and an island is created where those 3 tabs are moved into it.
At the URL
opera://settings/userInterface
, I have "Automatically create tab islands" enabled. If I goto https://forums.opera.com/category/11/opera-for-windows, right-click a link for a thread and choose "open in new tab", an island is automatically created where the current tab and that new tab are moved into it. If I open another thread link in a new tab, that one is added to the existing island. So, all is working fine here for what it's worth.

Thank you. I looked, searched but found nothing in settings for Tab Islands. I still cannot do this task. I've reported this as a bug. I'm running on the latest Opera update, so I don't know what I've done to miss this part.

@leocg I checked this morning. Not listed. I've reported this issue to Opera as a bug. Running the latest update of Opera, I don't know what else I can do...other than uninstalling/reinstalling Opera
Thanks for your help.
I tried to find what build, but Opera doesn't make it easy to find out or impossible to search for it. I'm on Windows 11. Dell Laptop.

@terryflorida But you are using Opera 100.0.4809.0? Check in Menu > Help > About Opera or in opera://about.

@leocg I went to About and this is the uptodate version: Version:99.0.4788.31.
Seems I'm outdated, yet Opera says I'm up to date.

@terryflorida Opera One is still a Developer preview version. If you're running Stable or Beta you'll be running 99.

@terryflorida As said, you aren't using Opera One and that's why you are not seeing any tabs islands options.

I don't know who I should be angry/upset with the most - myself or Opera for not relegating all the forum issues about a Developer version on a full Opera forum. Maybe that's why no one at Opera has responded to my issue - other than you and another moderator. I appreciate both your assistance and bringing me sanity and sedateness again!

@teceerbe Okay, I'm now able to create the tab islands. However, when I started up my laptop this morning, they're gone. Are islands only temporary, just for that particular session? Thanks.

@terryflorida In the current state of Opera One everything is temporary. Since the update to Opera One yesterday Opera has dumped all my tabs twice already. Even if I don't use any islands. It has reset every workspace to just a single start page tab, overriding the setting to retain tabs from the previous session.

@marqm What's wrong with them. Do they think their way is more convenient?
