Getting rid of Facebook Messenger

Just recently, facebook manager popped up and took up about 1/3 of my entire screen when I opened Opera. I do not use Facebook Messenger and I'd like to know how my Opera account got associated with it. I have hidden it, but I'd like to have it completely out of my Opera installation. How does it get installed/activated?

@trippap Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Telegram will continue to pop up in the sidebar, even after they have been disabled and Opera's settings have been optimized for privacy. Opera is now owned by a Chinese company, so it's no longer a good choice for privacy protectionists. Despite the inconvenience, you should switch to Firefox if you don't want your data to be stolen and monetized by somebody else.

@sgunhouse Wrong. I don't even have a Facebook account, and I'm looking at the Messenger Icon in my sidebar Right Now.
