<![CDATA[Getting rid of Facebook Messenger]]>Just recently, facebook manager popped up and took up about 1/3 of my entire screen when I opened Opera. I do not use Facebook Messenger and I'd like to know how my Opera account got associated with it. I have hidden it, but I'd like to have it completely out of my Opera installation. How does it get installed/activated?

And no one at Opera or anywhere else can access your data. If you want real privacy, never use Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter, etc.

Opera is now owned by a Chinese company, so it's no longer a good choice for privacy protectionists. Despite the inconvenience, you should switch to Firefox if you don't want your data to be stolen and monetized by somebody else.

The Facebook Messenger, as well the other messengers, in sidebar is part of Opera and can't be uninstalled. You can only remove the sidebar icon.
