[Solved]The combined Address Search bar is no longer working

Today I went to log into my email I go to the Adress and search bar and put in m and it comes up with my two mail links. Today it didn't do that then I tried search and that did not work only putting in a valid URL worked. it comes up with a pushed out box with a globe saying secure site on it today it never did that before. I can search through the google search bar on the but why was the search taken away from the URL address line? will it come back or will this be permenant?

@leocg I changed from DuckDuckgo to Google does the same thing. I reset the setting and still not working like before.

@leocg I can search from the speed dial. I am developing an web page now I can't put in the ip address to go to my development machine. Something is wrong I will reboot at the end of the day see if that fixes it.

@ronm What happens when you try to search using the address bar?

@leocg it does nothing at home the opera is working fine so the reboot should fix it it has been up for about 4 weeks now so it needs a refresh i guess

@ronm So you type something, press enter and nothing happens? And if you use the Go button?

Already checked with extensions disabled? And what about with a clean profile?

@leocg Good Morning I closed opera and reopened it and everything is fine now. but my reset of setting I have to configure the way I had it now. The reset did not work until it was closed and opened again. Problem has gone away all is fine. Thank you for your concern.

Not solved.

Address bar search works after reopening but the problem returns after some time the browser is opened:

Typing a search string into address bar -> [Enter] -> nothing happens.

I am experiencing the exact same thing: whether in a new or existing tab, whether in a new or existing window, if I click in the address/search bar, type, and press Enter, nothing happens. It doesn't matter whether I type a search string or a Web address known to be valid (even with https://www and all): nothing happens. The typing appears dimmed as I type, and there is a globe icon at the left of the bar. However, in a private window everything works as it should. I'm using Opera v. 78.0.4093.147, which should be the latest version.

@davidr If it works in a private windows, then most probably a extension is causing the problem. It could be a broken profile too.

So far I couldn't reproduce the problem.

Thanks, Leo. It's strange, because it only began happening recently, and I haven't altered my extensions or profile. Could it perhaps be connected to the enhanced address bar?

@davidr Don't know. I see that opera://flags/#enhanced-address-bar was disabled here, I enabled it and will see if it triggers the problem.

@leocg , thanks for working on it. I have to think it's a newly introduced bug of some kind, since several of us are now reporting it. Further info: if I type into the address/search bar in an existing tab and hit Enter, it doesn't do anything but reload the existing page, reinserting its address into the bar.

I have exactly the same issue, last stable installed.

Just updated to Version:78.0.4093.184, and it seems to be fixed. Hopefully for good--as @saur points out, it was reported and supposedly fixed last November!

Yeah it's frustrating because it's a problem that seems to happen after several minutes to hours of use. Once it happens, if I open a new tab, type in a website URL and hit enter, nothing happens.

In my limited experimenting I've done, I've noticed that if I open a new tab, type in a URL, say, Google.com for example, switch to a different tab, and then switch back to the tab I was typing the URL in, and THEN hit enter, it will navigate to google. But the problem still persists, it doesn't fix it. Additionally if you then try to go from google.com to youtube.com using the same trick (type in URL, don't hit enter, switch to a different tab, then switch back), it will begin to navigate...but won't actually go anywhere.

Curiously I've noticed if I Ctrl-N and open a new window, the address bar in the new Opera window works perfectly fine and behaves as expected, but the address bar on the old Opera window still doesn't work.
