It is grayed out because you're pointing the location at the previous install - it won't let you change the install type until you change the install directory. After you change that, you will be able to choose All users (and then also change the directory to the default - so what you change the directory to at first doesn't really matter much.

@sgunhouse Why Opera? Why? I've just discovered this. Now I have to uninstall and re-install it again! Please re-think this bizarre decision, or ask the user when they run the installer!

So when I select to uninstall opera/opera gx it will ask what I want to delete and what I want to be left on the AppData folder so like my configs/passwords/theme/bookmarks bar/logged sections/icons on the sidebar/tec...?

@vasco2020 You would need to not delete the configs, unless you have the data stored with an Opera account. I do, so not 100% sure what will happen in your scenario.

@vasco2020 When you uninstall Opera, you get the option to remove your data. If you select the option, your data will be deleted.

@vasco2020 I can only suggest you try it again and make sure you read the prompts thoroughly. It worked fine for me and now resides in c:\program files\opera on a 64 bit system

@leocg the path is the current user path but I had the all users options on il just create a folder called Opera Software on the C:\Program Files\ folder so that I can install opera there

@vasco2020 So both installation and data directories where kept?
And in the installation folder, all files were kept? Or just a few ones?

@vasco2020 That's strange because it's not the path Opera uses when installed for current user only.

                              It's usually users\username\appdata\local\programs\

so i created a folder called "Opera Software" on the C:\Program Files (since I'm installing the 64bit version) and i created 2 folders one called "Opera Stable" and the other "Opera GX Stable"

so then I can install them there since the installation setup file is not making the path so that it does for all users

@vasco2020 You shouldn't have to manually create folders. The installer does that automatically.
When I first installed it it went into the appdata\local as you described and appdata\roaming (I believe) held the data. When I uninstalled and re-installed it, it put the program in c:\program files as expected and the data was left where it was in appdata\roaming. There appears to be some cache files in appdata\local too.

It now works for both users of that computer.

@davidc-surrey so I need to delete the cache folder on the opera/operagx AppData directory for the setup to work correctly? to select the C:\Program Files\ when I select the all users? but will that delete my user data?

@vasco2020 I have just tested this for you on another computer.

Note to Opera people: I am an IT consultant and a programmer. Your installer is an absolute disgrace. I know this software is free, but that is no excuse for this nonsense:

                                        I uninstalled Opera.
I downloaded the current version and ran the installer.
During install I clicked the tiny little almost invisible link for "Options"
Changed the "install for" to All users of this computer
Browse to the c:\program files folder for the "install path" - This Is Wrong . The idiot program does not create the "Opera Browser" folder for you within Program Files! I am utterly shocked by this. So you must first browse to your Program Files folder and manually create a folder called "Opera Browser" or something that makes it obvious what it is. Then browse to that folder in the installer and finish the install.

I am utterly gobsmacked at the unprofessionalism of this and it worries me greatly now, about other aspects of the software such as security.

Anyway, once the install is complete and I run the browser again, all my favourites etc. are still there so it must have imported them.

@davidc-surrey I already did that didn't you see my post? I created a folder called "Opera Software" on the C:\Program Files\ (if i was downloading the 32-bit version it would be C:\Program Files(x86)\ ) and then I created 2 folders one called "Opera Stable" and "Opera GX Stable" those are the same names of the folders containing the files on the AppData directory... also are these the 64-bit versions? just to confirm
