<![CDATA[How can I Install Opera for all users?]]>Opera's default installation is just for one user. How can I install Opera so that anyone using the computer in any user account can access it without installing Opera separately for each user? If I have to change to installation folder could please give instructions on how to do so.

(The install folder doesn't have to match the "Opera Stable" profile folder name.)

So, if you have C:\Program Files\Opera (not C:\Program Files) set for "Install path", the installer will create the "Opera" directory if it is not present. Things should install just fine. If they don't, there's definitely something wrong. Maybe there are permission issues with your Program Files folders.

also are these the 64-bit versions?

Yes, the x64 ones are the installers for the 64-bit versions.

I created a folder called "Opera Software" on the C:\Program Files\ (if i was downloading the 32-bit version it would be C:\Program Files(x86)\ ) and then I created 2 folders one called "Opera Stable" and "Opera GX Stable" those are the same names of the folders containing the files on the AppData directory... also are these the 64-bit versions? just to confirm

Note to Opera people: I am an IT consultant and a programmer. Your installer is an absolute disgrace. I know this software is free, but that is no excuse for this nonsense:

I uninstalled Opera.
I downloaded the current version and ran the installer.
During install I clicked the tiny little almost invisible link for "Options"
Changed the "install for" to All users of this computer
Browse to the c:\program files folder for the "install path" - This Is Wrong . The idiot program does not create the "Opera Browser" folder for you within Program Files! I am utterly shocked by this. So you must first browse to your Program Files folder and manually create a folder called "Opera Browser" or something that makes it obvious what it is. Then browse to that folder in the installer and finish the install.

I am utterly gobsmacked at the unprofessionalism of this and it worries me greatly now, about other aspects of the software such as security.

Anyway, once the install is complete and I run the browser again, all my favourites etc. are still there so it must have imported them.

When I first installed it it went into the appdata\local as you described and appdata\roaming (I believe) held the data. When I uninstalled and re-installed it, it put the program in c:\program files as expected and the data was left where it was in appdata\roaming. There appears to be some cache files in appdata\local too.

It now works for both users of that computer.

It's usually users\username\appdata\local\programs\

It worked fine for me and now resides in c:\program files\opera on a 64 bit system

If you select the option, your data will be deleted.

I do, so not 100% sure what will happen in your scenario.

You will have choices for type of install (All users, single user, or standalone), install location, etc.

If you select "All users", the default install directory will be C:\Program Files\Opera Software\ (or the equivalent given your locale - Windows changes it based on your language). If you have a previous install which is not "All users" then it will not overwrite that install (as it is in a different location) ... it might be a good idea to uninstall the previous version first, so that you don't get confused by the two different copies. (If asked, leave your profile/settings so that the new install will find them when you run Opera under your account.)

Of course, to make an "All users" install Windows will require administrator access - if you can't get such access (via the usual dialog) then don't bother; have someone who can get administrator access install it for you. (I presume you can get access, I am just being thorough.)
