Hey,
our latests developer update 65.0.3454.0 includes changes to bookmark bar behaviour. In this build after explicitly disabling bookmark bar it should not appear again even after adding bookmarks to it later. There seem to be however issue if sync is enabled and data is synchronized with build which does not contain this fix causing bookmark bar to appear after synchronization. -

@gmiazga umm, my opera is not synced as far as I know, yet it still does the same thing sir. I just checked I'm not signed in and therefore that should not have happened at all.

Same with me.
I mean, where's the logic in treating a bug with something that also has a bug?!?
I think I'm going to change the browser. Cause this is really, really annoying. -

The version I have is version is 63.0.3368.94 and I had t hunt for it since there is no "About" tab in the menu to be found. I found the version number in the "Update & Recovery" tab. OK, that being said, I also tried the update button but there is no update to download so I hope that the new version has that bug fixed and comes out soon.

I too find it annoying but I don't add many bookmarks and not often anyway. You must be adding a lot of them. I will stick with Opera and hope this problem goes away soon.

@graywoulf To check Opera's version, you cal also go to Help > About Opera or type opera://about in address bar.
63.0.3368.94 is the latest stable version, Opera 65 is still in developer channel.
Let's see if they will backport the fix to Opera 64.

@leocg Thanks for the information on finding the version number and the version information. I hope that they make the fix as well. I also wish that there was more support for viewing all video types. It is inconvenient not to be able to watch a lot of the review videos on Amazon and other similar sites. But, that is another story.
Overall, I am very pleased with Opera and like it better than Chrome any day.

@gmiazga I'm pretty certain I have the latest version, I keep updating to whatever bitdefender tells me is the latest version. And yet it still does it no matter what I do.

This post have been here for 68 days. When will the issue be fixed?
For me: bookmarking any page shows the bookmark bar (even though I never save bookmarks there directly so it's not a recent location) and the 3 bookmarks that are there. When I remove all the bookmarks from the bar, it is still being shown when bookmarking a page, but only for a second and then it disappears.
To sum up:
-shows up when bookmarking a page
-stays if has bookmarks on it
-disappears after a second when it's emptyHope it helps troubleshooting.
Thanks.

Never use bookmark bar and only recently had issues. Even though have set bookmarks to save at "other bookmarks" so can sort later it keeps turning bookmark bar on and sending there instead and no way I can see to permanently disable bookmark bar.

If there's a fix soon then can put up with the problem for a while. Letting us permanently disable bookmark bar would be nice, hate toolbars or anything that takes up extra space on the screen.

My bookmark bar is not visible. Then, when I add a bookmark, the bookmark bar become visible ... is normal this behaviour ? Because after this bookmark is added, I have to set boomark bar invisible again, and this commands I repeat every time when I add a bookmark.

It's fixed on Dev channel - at least -, should reach Stable soon.
But,
for those without Bks at Bks bar, the bar rehiddes if you click on another folder or saved previously on another one, despite first appears on the bar.If you have 1 or more Bk on the bar, it keeps showing up and still when you add any another Bk.
On my tests, done yesterday, that was the behaviour.

A few times each day the bookmarks bar shows up at the top of the page and will not hide until I right-click on it and tell it to hide.
I "settings" I did not enable "Show bookmarks bar".
Why does the bookmarks bar keeps bothering me?
