Opera defaulting to .uk

Hi all!
I'm trying to access a .com site but Opera insists on defaulting to it's .co.uk site which is useless for me as I'm not registered with that one. Is there a way to force it to the site I actually want without resetting all my location details? (cookies, cache, history etc.. have already been cleared more than once)
Thanks in advance. -

What site? Opera itself shouldn't change it (except the built-in bookmarks and Searches)

@sgunhouse
cheapoair.com I've had an account with them for ages, now however I cannot get into it because I keep getting directed to their UK site. I'm currently in Denmark and have changed the location to US on my computer settings in case that's the problem but still no luck. -

Hmm ... perhaps since you're in Europe they had to send you to an EU site - the US site doesn't include the cookie consent notice. Someone else in Europe would have to look at it and see.

@tjrjn Try editing 'Local State' in a text editor and change 'country' and 'country from server'.

@leocg thanks for the suggestions, however I'm not that computer savy. I'm happy to try anything but could you explain in a bit more detail what you mean please? Thanks in advance.

@tjrjn You open the file 'local state', located in Opera's profile folder (you find the path in menu > about Opera), in a text editor, find 'country' and 'country from server' in it and change the country code.

@sgunhouse Yes, that's what I'm thinking. Annoying when your account (and fly miles) are with the other one though.

@leocg I just changed it to US as per your instructions, but it still defaults to UK.
I guess, I'll just have to change sites. Thanks for your help though.

I had a similar issue and was looking for this local state folder but I can't even find the profile folder in that path.

@esebm Where does About Opera say it should be?

@esebm There is no folder called 'profile', the profile folder is the one indicate in 'about Opera' next to 'profile'.
Also, 'local state' is a file, not a folder.

OK, found it, thanks.
Can't make head or tail of it, sorry.

@esebm This is what I did.
Opera menu - paths - copy the profile path - find in directory - scroll down to 'local state' - open in notepad- change country codes.
Having said all that it didn't fix the issue though. -

Look for cookies in Opera/Settings/Privacy/Cookies for that site. Then delete them, add that site to exceptions in "Cookies/Exceptions" and set it to block further cookies from that site.
Let us know if that helps.

@bbildman Thanks but no dice. It still defaults to .co.uk regardless. I get this notification:
"Please enable cookies to get best experience from our website. Some features might not work with cookies disabled." It must be the company itself redirecting to the local area even though I've changed everything to US. I've even tried it in Tor, but again no luck. -

The site sets at least 23 different cookies of its own plus uses local storage. If you're allowing all cookies and permitting local storage, have you tried visiting the site after first clearing everything?
