Same issue. Has happened several times before during the past 6 months but it seems like this 'feature' is not going anywhere.
35.0.2066.92 & Windows 10 64-bit (WoW64)
Edit: Possibly triggered by copy & paste but only occasionally.

This is very frustrating and still happens to me in every version from several months. Now I'm using:
Version: 35.0.2066.92
Update stream: Stable
System: Windows 7 64-bit (WoW64)and writing from IE because keyboard wasn't working in Opera and the browser needs to be restarted every time. facepalm I always reproduce it when I open the developer tools to inspect elements on a site I'm developing and trying the Mobile view. Please fix this because it's really unusable.

I found a great solution!!! A new chrome-based browser called Vivaldi. Its by one of the original co-creators of Opera. It is one smooth and polished browser and it even has a "bookmark" feature on version 1.0 (shakes head at Opera). I switched back to Chrome because of this bug that drove me nuts. Now I'm going to give Vivaldi a try.
Finally, a real browser company that listens to the customers. It incorporates most of the tab settings that was in original Opera and Tax Mix Plus for Firefox. Give it a try and make your own decisions about staying with Opera and hoping they would fix known bugs that has been added for over a year.

I also have this issue and it drives me insane! I have this on Windows 7 64 bit, 16 GB RAM and i7 3.6 GHz.
I usually have loads of tabs opened, sometimes I have 2 or 3 Opera windows opened. Barely 1/3 of my memory is used, so there is no reason for Opera to act like that.
Just to make it clear, the input in the DOM is not working (not sure if CTRL+V works), but the address bar is fine, and mouse gestures do not respond. I have just a few widgets installed, browser plug-ins still work.
FIX THIS ISSUE, OPERA and bring back good old tab stacking! -

I am having the same issue.
Version: 37.0.2178.54 - Opera is up to date
Update stream: Stable
System: Windows 7 64-bit (WoW64)Keyboard just stops accepting inputs. Mouse works. I usually have to close Opera and reopen it to make keyboard work again.
Very annoying!

I have the same anoying problem, since several months. On different computers, different systems (once Windows 7, 64-bit and once Windows 10, 64-bit), Opera always updatet to newest Version. Maybe, it has to do with my profile or some extensions?
Keyboard works well from starting Opera, but after a while not using it (and changing from different program-tabs) it stops reacting (nothing works, not even CTRL+...). Only thing then: to restart Opera. Mouse works fine all the time.
I would be glad if anyone knew how to stop this. -

I do have the same problem.
It happens in the beta version, portable and also in the production version.
Most of the shortcuts, mouse gestures, keyboard strokes stop.
The only solution I have so far is restarting opera. In my case, I note this happen when the pop-up blocker react to some sites that are comum to open a lot of pop-ups.
Hope this help you find a solution.
Keep making great software, and it is amazing if you figure out why this problem happen.
All the best

This problem stopped a few months ago when I turned off "mouse gestures" in Settings.

I'm experiencing the same problem too. I'm using the latest version 39.0.2256.71 on windows 10 and it generally happens if I have a few javascript-heavy tabs open (facebook, gmail, etc) so it looks like it might be a memory leak of some kind?
I have already turned off mouse gestures, and the problems persists. Not had this problem with Chrome which I recently switched from, but I'm seriously considering switching back to chrome because I am losing work.

I have the same issue using the latest version of Opera (39.0.2256.71) on Windows 10.
Usually the keyboard stops working while I'm using the developer tools, which is on a daily basis.
This is a very annoying problem and would appreciate if more people could upvote this so the developers can take a look at it.

I've tried the suggestion from tagboy (June 28) but it didn't work for me.
Only restarting Opera worked.My configuration:
- Windows 10 - 64 bit (upgraded from Windows
- Opera 39.0.2256.71
Reading the comments I've noticed that I'm experiencing this issue in the same situations:
- In inspect element
- In Google Drive (either Drive, Docs, Slides...)
Please, fix Opera team.
