@leocg I've tried this and it seems to work for YouTube but none of my other apps (e.g. Twitter). I see a list of sites with permission to always open in external app (with only YouTube urls in it), but I can't see any way to add to it.

How would that work? I mean, blocking ads by yourself... It's a bit useless, isn't it? You'd have to take off ads and pop-ups manually by clicking multiple cross-shaped icons. Maybe, you're refering to decide what kind of ads you would like to see but I think that'd not be possible, since there are all types of ads and they show up randomly. If you want to decide what pages may show ads; there're adsblocks that allow you to whitelist pages. For example, Opera ad blocker or Enhacer for Youtube (as the name says, this works only for youtube; allowing you to decide what channels can show up ads and other features)

Usually "package installer" would be Linux, though it is still rather vague - you mean dpkg, apt, rpm or any of half a dozen others? Which distro, which desktop, etc.?

Most likely it is looking for an appropriate version of the chromium media codecs package (whatever name that has on your system; often something like codecs-chromium-extra). Though with the lack of information, who knows?

I'm afraid that another reason for giving up on Opera is your patronising posts and your pedantry. What is your motivation for posting here - apart from trying to make yourself look clever at the expense of an ordinary user? I think you are enjoying being a big fish in a small pool - and you have just lost one more potential user.
