  I totally agree. It's needed especially when in private mode. If utilising another search engine other than Google the search box in address bar is a must. It looks like Opera "technicians" have overlooked this fact. The function needs reinstating. Why can't Opera leave things alone? If it isn't broken, why fix it? Sadly, I reckon it's connected to some "whizz kid" who feels he , or she, know best. In truth, they just make it worse for us. especially the less computer savvy, elderly and differently enabled. I'm coming to the conclusion that internet companies are intent on stopping those less able from using the internet.

  @ChrisWard2026 I'm pretty sure Opera does ask that when you first install/run it, though it opens as an inserted line above the main browser window rather than as a pop-up window.
