Description
Currently, in Opera GX, the Speed Dial tiles are always visible on the start page, which can cover the background wallpaper. I suggest adding an option to hide the Speed Dial by default and only show it when the mouse hovers over the area. Why is this useful?
Better Aesthetics – Many users enjoy customizing their browser with unique wallpapers, but Speed Dial tiles cover them.More Customization – Giving users the option to toggle this behavior improves flexibility.
Minimalist UI – Helps users who prefer a clean interface while still keeping Speed Dial accessible when needed.
Suggested Implementation
Add a toggle in Settings > Start Page > Speed Dial VisibilityEnable "Show Speed Dial on hover" as an option
Apply a smooth fade-in effect when the user moves the cursor over the Speed Dial area
This would be a small but impactful quality-of-life improvement for Opera GX users who appreciate a sleek, customizable UI.
Additional Notes
If this isn't possible as a built-in feature, perhaps allowing custom CSS in the settings would also be a viable alternative.
