A popup dialog contained inside the tab would be useful when you want to change to another tab quickly before selecting a file.

Would you mind elaborating on that?

Just like the print dialog. With the Windows open/save dialogs you cannot change to another tab

NuOpera's Speed Dial now has folders as its items, so it's not so obviously easy then.
There's another shortcut possibility to consider - having shortcuts for bookmarks (as in the Olde Opera): this way you could navigate through the address bar...

Also, Firefox has a feature that signals a play store link and an icon in the address bar that takes you to the install in playstore. These two ( reader mode and playstore link ) are a must I guess.

That argument is no longer valid and untrue. Opera is the only web browser not to have a 64-bit version. And all major mainstream supported plugins are 64 bit compatible as a result.

Of course there are lots of ways to locate a link in the bookmark tree. However, the GUI-style approach is nearly impossible to be faster than the CLI-style way. I believe that most Linux (vi / emacs) users and RTS game players will agree with me.

The shortcut key is just the "CLI-style" operation that is more and more difficult to find in today's GUI applications. When an ordinary user is moving his mouse onto the address bar and moving his right hand back to keyboard, it's done in Opera 12.17. Isn't it cool?

Please have a look at DuckDuckGo if mainly privacy is of your concern. It will enhance your current searching experience greatly. I have had a quick look at Ixquick, and I do not see any reason why one would want to use an unknown copycat website that does nothing but worsen your searching experience compared to the great alternatives out there.
All of the major search engines seem to be included with Opera. Although the ability to set a custom search engine as default is currently missing, I do not see any reason for this to be an issue unless it is for a big player such as Baidu.
According to one of the posts that I have come across, Opera has disabled or removed this functionality due to safety concerns. Please keep this in mind, since it seems unlikely for this to change anytime soon.

I disagree and that's why I no longer use Opera as I have switched back to a Chromium based browser which allows me to use Ixquick as my search engine. If you are looking for safety you would eliminate Google as a search engine choice. Duck Duck Go is a horrible search engine. Ixquick...the best.

Thank you for suggesting this. Although I do not feel it to be mission-critical, I have always longed for an easier way of instantly moving to the top or bottom of a page.
