Delete the file Local_state from your profile, or open it in a text editor and change the value for Location. If you search you'll see several threads on this topic in this forum.
File>New tab gets you a new tab, but can you, on a mac, get closing the last active tab to return you to an open tab with your speed dials showing, as happens in windows and linux? I don't see why I should need to do that extra File> New tab step...
@sgunhouse the user is referring to https://link.opera.com which should be accessible from any browser.
I thought this "data denied ... token" stuff was a server-side problem... But you say it works in other browsers...
Have you tried closing the page and clearing the cookies to the beginning of time and try to access again?
Thanks. I actually did make the file unwritable. While it solve my original problem, the speed dial would reset to default and this page (http://www.opera.com/o/welcome-to-opera?fr=1) would open every time I reopen Opera.
One other thing that I did on both my MAC and Windows versions of Opera 22. I created a folder named "Bookmarks" on the bookmarks bar. After importing all my bookmarks to the bookmarks bar, I dragged them all onto the folder I had just created on the bookmarks bar. Now the bookmarks behave pretty much as they did in Opera 12.
Generally, you change your computer’s region from System Settings: Language and Region: Region.
If you want to overwrite this manually, follow the below steps (intermediate difficulty):
Quit Opera
From the Terminal application, paste this line followed by Enter: open -e ~/Library/Application\ Support/com.operasoftware.Opera/Local\ State
Look for and manipulate this line, "location": { "country": "us", "country_from_server": "US" }
Save, and reopen Opera
