  @sonthin2 I think I could only hope that the problem is solved with one of the upcoming smaller updates. Last time I encountered a major problem of this sort meant waiting for weeks for a major update until the bug was finally removed.

  @sentaberger Go to Browser History in the Opera Menu, In case it is still intact you can restore your tabs from there. Good luck!
  There is an Extension named TabHamster; when installed you can recover lost tabs with one click only. I strongly recommend you installing it or another similar extension because losing all open tabs might happen again.

  The only thing that I could recommend is to export your bookmarks regularly in the future, so you can restore them from there or transfer them to another device.
  Sorry, I don't have any better solution by now, but I'd like to support your request because I have had similar problems on various occasions:
  when synchronizing, it went the wrong way: it did not update the stored bookmarks with the new ones but removed the new bookmarks on the computer, so the former version was restored on it (although adjusted the "right way" round in Settings).
  It happened too many times so I don´t consider synchronizing a safe process on Opera. It might function sometimes but I think it´s better to have your bookmarks exported and stored.

  I, too, face this issue very frequently. Even When I play a YouTube video which runs for an hour, this error comes. I have to either close the browser or kill the opera service through task manager.

  @leocg It seems unpredictable! This clears up temporarily after I close Opera and reopen. I could be in the middle of opening another webpage from an open tab, and the screen will go opaque or black. When that doesn't resolve, I will sometimes be successful by doing a ctrl alt delete to bring up task manager from which I close Opera from there. That helps. But it is never a permanent fix. I clear the cached webpages and history, never the cookies though, and that doesn't really help much.
  I still think I have reached the limit of my speed dial capacity; I have been accumulating websites there since 2014.

  I asked how to delete a user account on the forum. Answer was:

  Hello, since I don't use any other Opera services, I only use Opera as a browser, I have now deleted the Opera account because it doesn't make sense to continue the problem with my first thread request:

  I can still use Opera to browse. That's enough for me!

  @sgunhouse ok it seems to be handled by something in settings ... I just ran clean slate and did not synch the settings and history but rest I let be and site is working as it should .... weird because I do not seem to see any major difference that I would made ... pretty much only difference I did before was to set default zoom level to 90% instead of 100% which I did not do now

  Thanks. It's a bit more tiresome than just tapping the x, and I'm not going to start carrying the keyboard around just to use Opera. It was my go-to browser for many years but I'll probably migrate to something that's more tablet friendly.

  @tesshide Their webiste is out of date, recommends IE...
  You can use some "user agent switcher" extension to mimic itself as Chrome - or if this "Carry on ..." link works, then just use that.

  You likely should report this site to Opera too.

  yes. THis is happening on multiple computers, (both my PC, my notebook) and with multiple people in our office.

  When is next release?

  Now, could I ask for more specifics so we're not going to do drip, drip, drip, drip, for weeks...
