I've been advised by the engineer from my current ISP that I should delete and re install Opera.

Just for curiosity, what would be the reason for that?

In operaprefs.ini in the preferences folder, set Spellcheck enabled by default=0 under [Users Prefs] (while Opera is closed).
Also, see this page (save it locally and then load it if you're not using Opera 12 for a browser). That will show you how to add opera:config back as the setting is in there.

Just to make it clear for others (since I was really confused about this): You need to add this line to the file. There is no such line as Spellcheck enabled by default=1 in the operafrefs.ini file! Simply copy and paste Spellcheck enabled by default=0 into the operprefs.ini file

lando242, thanks for your answer and solution.

Now I have a BIG problem because of that Opera has changed the rules..
Every speed dial entry I have to change and some thumbnails of sites won't even show up where they did before. Mostly I find pre-loads of pictures that appear on the entry site.
This means (for me) with an average of 8 mouseclicks per speed dial, I have to change a few 100's of dials.

Imagine when, in the future, will they change the rules again and do I have to change these things again, because someone at Opera has some new ideas...

Working with Opera isn't the fun that I had, working with it in the past years... (pre- vs. 25.x)

In Opera Mail, see "Menu -> help -> about Opera Mail". It'll show you the location of the "mail" folder. accounts.ini is in there.

What you're talking about though is explained at http://www.opera.com/help/tutorials/mail/advanced/#custom-reply. But, all that allows you to do is to add plain text before the quoted text to fake a plain text signature above the quoted text. You can't do HTML there and you can't reference the signature set in the account's settings to have it placed above the quoted text.

Opera doesn't have a signature position setting at all.

A lot of the upgrade problems have been shaken out over the last 8 months or so of public testing. I think the latest tally is that 4 million people have tried Windows 10. Only a tiny number of things aren't migrated, such as some AV programs:

Go to the webpage of the speed dial entry you wish to change, click the red heart icon to the right of the address bar, and use the arrow buttons in the middle of the popup to cycle what will be displayed on the thumbnail. This works the same for bookmarks and speed dial entries.

The easiest way I know of is to just copy the whole profile folder from the source PC, delete the existing profile on the destination PC and paste the copied from file in its place.

This option still works for Opera 29, I recently used this myself. And I also see where you're going wrong:

Alt-P (open settings), don't click anywhere, then use: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, b, a.

So instead of using up/down a few times you need up/up, down/down. The option you're looking for can be found further down on the same page (after you enabled power user mode of course).

Well I hope Opera will sooner or later manage to fix it. But for now I found another thread (refering to https://forums.opera.com/post/74754) with my issue. I installed "PDF Viewer" add-on and now the problem is solved. Thanks to you leocg, didn't really thought about searching in these forums before...
