  Oh my!..
  Something must've got corrupted in your Opera settings or profile files that caused the browser to re-create them or the entire profile anew. Are your other bookmarks in place? History?

  Try searching your system if the old profile or some files are still intact. As long as the above is unlikely, there might be certain means to try - if there are some - finding some system copies, shadow copies. I don't know if there are ways to recover "unregistered" files - i.e. overwritten in the file system but not yet deleted physically (registry search for such clusters or something, then using some special applications, no idea).

  I fixed the problem.I performed a (second) upgrade to windows 10,from withing the system.
  After the upgrade finished,i tried Opera 31 again and now it works fine,without any crashes or freezes.
  If anyone else has freezes and crashes with Opera 31 on windows 10,he should perform the upgrade to windows 10 again and after it,Opera will work fine.

  You can change the icon used for the speed dial by opening the webpage who's icon you wish to change and clicking the heart menu to the right of the address bar. From there you can use the arrow buttons on that popup to cycle through a selection of icons. A thumbnail of the entire webpage will always be one of the selections you can make.

  Just a note, it is not a live preview like in Opera 12. So it wont change as time goes on.

  Interesting. I am running the latest version, 31.0.1889.151, the only extensions I am running are the translate and ad blocker. But it doesn't seem to run in private window (no extensions enabled). And turbo is not enabled.

  There may be more than one fix for this problem, i.e., user created themes are not allowed to replace default themes. But it appears this problem is embedded in Opera (Stable) version 31.0.1889.161. I uninstalled Opera 31.0 and replaced it with Opera (Beta) version: 32.0.1948.12. If all else fails, try this. It worked for me!

  I had a few ad blockers installed for Opera, there are many to choose from so I added Ublock as well, and it worked, no more popups and those annoying sidebars (not sure what they are called). You guys that are still have problems should try other ad blockers. Opera is by far the best browser I have ever used. Thanks for your quick replies

  I guess you tried to customize shortcuts within internal Opera page? (for extensions too)

  btw. what dou you mean by aplication shortcuts?
  if you referr to chromium apps shortcuts, they (apps) are not supported in Opera,
  also, there is no way (natively) to add shortcuts to taskbar like Add to taskbar chrome feature ...and I doubt that any extension can do this...not sure tho

  it was before aplication shortcuts, now, in Chrome, it's called add to taskbar

  Yeah, but they were not called extensions, they were called widgets. Opera Internal Pages is an extension for Opera 15+. It wont work in Opera 12 and earlier because they used a different extension system.

  Not true at all, I use opera 12.17 with extensions and was using extensions for a long time before opera 15 came out
