Opera doesn't have a status bar, which I miss a lot. In my previous browser, there were tons of features assembled on status bar which could be switched on and off like the country of my IP (so I knnew If I had a VPN/proxy or a direct connection) Zoom levels, Internet speed of my adapter, both upload and download, my IP address, Zoom settings, tile settings etc

Also, status bar showed the percentages of uploads/downloads and address of the links opera is resolvimng or when hovered upon a link.

All of these settings could be switched on/off so User can decide what they want to see on their status bar but if they completely want to remove status bar, there was an option for that too.

When we have a sidebar to manage the modules, why can't we have a status bar to extended information and frequently used features like Zoom and tiling etc?

Can we have something like this in opera please?

Instead of a tab or a flyout, Vivaldi has a download panel that could be opened and closed from the side bar much like the messenger apps in Opera.

It shows extended information like URL, referrer, download speed, percent completed, ETA etc.

Can we have that in Opera?

Plus having the ability to refresh/or change the download link ? Sometimes some servers don't give good download speeds so users can change the link from a mirror site. It's also helpful if the download address gets expired, users can refresh the link and resume their broken downloads.

Is this possible to add these enhanced download features in Opera?

@burnout426 I type hi in the little window and click send, I get response in the command prompt but nothing in Opera unless I'm missing something.

BTW, this issue with Native Messaging Hosts has been previously noted to Google and it appears to be still open.

@burnout426 No burnout, Extension doesn't detect the main program. When a file comes in, I get notification that I need to Install IDA although it's installed.

As noted above, this issue has been reported to Chromium devs before and judging by the comments on Monorail, they ignored it. We'll see if they do something about it now though I don't have much hope.

I'm gonna go back to my old browser, MX5. It has a build in module which detects all download managers and doesn't require any extensions to do so.

Although MX5 has been discontinued and new MX6 is chromium based, which is entirely a clone of Google Chrome. Why would I want to use that ?

Now either Chromium fix this bug so I can switch to Opera or I'm gonna stay on old MX5 and see for how long it works before things start breaking up. New technology is moving at fast speed.

I'd like to thank you from the core of my heart for all the support. If the devs of these programs were as committed as you're, we would have been in a different pool altogether.

One thing I would like to keep from Opera, it's speed dial background wallpapers. Do you know where Opera keeps them ?

@johnd78 No worries John, appreciate your help. I tried the same Adguard and uBO filters in Vivaldi and it's adblocker also based on ABP tells you how many rules are valid and parsed and how many are invalid and discarded.

Wish there was this same functionality in Opera too.

So I have removed all the Easylist and other built in filters by Opera and integrated Adguard filters through URL's. Now these filters I added needs constant updating so how does Opera adblocker updates the custom filters? Three scenarios come to mind.

If I add the custom filters through URL and click the update button, does the filters get updated ?

If I add the filters through txt files and update those txt files, does Opera re-reads them every time it's launched thus parsing the new entries?

Or does the txt files need to be removed and re-added into Opera for the new entries to get parsed?

Please help me solve this.

@leocg Thank you for the response. I did some research and found that Opera's adblocker is based on Adblock Plus so it will accept the wrting convictions of the Adblock Plus filters.

The goal here however is to use uBlock and Adguard filters into Opera without needing another 3rd party add-on. I guess I'm gonna have to figure out how to convert the adguard filters into the adblockplus and then use them inti Opera.

What blocker does Opera adblocker is based on?

@leocg I remember there use to be an option in Firefox to limit the size of the cache but I'm not gonna leave Opera for this.

@mardiyah Thank you for the further explanation. I don't want to clean the cache but shrink the size of the profile folder in Roaming and prevent it from growing so large. Is there any way to do that?

There's no Yandex or Qwant search engines build into Opera so I manually added them but there's no option to make them default.

Can this setting be introduced?
