I just want to inform you wize guys that after long years of being a strong supporter of Opera you finally managed to loose me. Forever.

The reasons being:

a) Until Version 30 I had a Speed Dial in the way I like it: With tiles showing me - though very small, but nevertheless very convenient - the contents of the sites they represent. And easily to be updated with a right mouse click. After the upgrade to version 31 this most acceptable, comfortable feature vanished. Irreparably. Since that upgrade I only see some ugly tiles with titles, and there's no way of changing this behaviour. And weren't this bad enough, you with the installation also mucked about the configuration files (needless to say that you never asked for my approval), to the effect that the worsening of the speed dial persisted even after I downgraded to Version 30 again. I then reversed the downgrade and learned to live with that bad excuse for a speed dial.

b) Today I upgraded to the new version 32. Not only didn't you change the speed dial behaviour (something I was hoping you would), you also managed to completely destroy my carefully collected library of several hundred, maybe even over 1000 RSS feeds. It's gone, completely gone, irretrievably gone.

You, my dear Opera devs, are by far the most incompetent, ignorant and self-centered bunch I ever met!

That's the end of almost 10 years of friendship. You will never hear of me again, and hopefully neither shall I from you.

after having been active in this forum for some while now i lately encountered the thought crossing my mind that i might like to reveal a little more about myself. enlightened by this flash of -... enlightenment?- i entered the profile page. and there, to my grave disappointment, i had to find out that none of the few topics i saw myself entitled to describe myself by really met what i am rather certain to be what i'm accustomed to describe myself by. (or so.)

for instance: why am i only to choose between "male" and "female" for my gender? what if i considered myself an androgynous green frog with pointed ears and paint fingernails? i'd be completely at a loss in that case. well, i'm glad i have no pointed ears, but that doesn't releave you of your duties to provide us users with more opportunities to express our individual selves.

yet, four of my ten fingernails are paint. in which way would you suggest i'd have to bend myself to fit into the narrow rules of your forum? even not being a frog? (behold, that was just an example, a metaphor!)

being in the proud tradition, together with the late robert kennedy, of being a berliner, i might help you in enhancing the specs of your forum. we, in this history-stricken town, are in the fatal situation of having a metro station called "mohrenstraße" (in english: nigger-street). this is, as you may easily concur, quite distasteful, and has to be changed. the only solution that'll be able to prove politically correct, will be "farbige-mitbürgerinnen-und-mitbürger-mit-migrationshintergrund-straße" ("couloured-fellow-citizens-male-as-well-as-female-with-migrational-background-street" - or "-lane", for british contemporaries). i sincerely urge you to embody similar considerations in your users' profile pages.

apart from that you should definitely revive our dear old opera 12 features.

is it the page itself that crashes or a plugin?
is hardware acceleration enabled? if so, try again after disabling it (or vice versa if it isn't).

from my observations (painstakingly described here, and here, and there) there appear to be some problems with certain hardware configurations. hence it might help to switch between hardware acceleration and software rendering, be the latter as uncomfortable a solution as it unluckily is.

i think i can pinpoint the beginning of the problem to version 29.0.1770.1 (for debian), and i think everyone agrees that this qualifies as a bug:

the effect is reproducable, though i can't tell when and how. it simply appears when i scroll through a page. needless to say that form elements are no longer accessible in that state of the browser's mind.
at first i thought it could be the result of non-conforming markup in the documents displayed, say a parser issue. but then i found out that when i switch to another tab and then back to the one with the distorted contents, the effect vanishes. it is (at least most of the times) even possible to scroll afterwards without the distortions reappearing.

crash reports will be sent automatically, as far as i know.

i suppose you're describing two different problems:

ATTENTION: default value of option forces3tcenable overridden by environment. I'd say this issue may be fixed in one of the preference pages.

When opening Opera it seems to load 2x - the crash takes me to log in screen. I've encountered this problem
myself, though not as frequently as you do. it occurs only after for some reason or other i messed around with the /tmp directory, where opera maintains several temporary subdirectories and files. my suggestion how to cope with the issue is as follows:

• explicitly kill all opera processes: killall -9 opera
• remove all .org.chromium.Chromium subdirectories from /tmp
• try to start opera again

it might help to first gain root privileges, but since it's only the mortal users who browse the internet the subdirs on /tmp belong to them and thus can be accessed and deleted by them.
