I'm wondering about plans and feasibility for the RAM Limiter and/or CPU Limiter functionality, or all of GX, coming to macOS.

RE: Bug/WARNING: Opera VPN server location reported is ON WRONG CONTINENT!?Opera for computers
Update continued:
OK, so slightly strangely, There are no BGP announcements for the parent network - 77.111.244.0/22. It announces each of the /24's in the /22 separately. Not efficient, but common.
Ok, so this (Opera owns HERN) changes nothing major directly.
But it's clear that OPERA owns IPs IN THE US, including: 37.228.104.0/21, 141.0.12.0/22, 185.26.180.0/22. Proof. It COULD use one to host the Americas VPN IP (exit node). How much work that would be is hard to say from here, but Opera's, for example, 10 Gbps peering connection in DC (Ashburn) suggests not much.

@leocg said in Bug/WARNING: Opera VPN server location reported is ON WRONG CONTINENT!?:
That's the point, I don't see how it would help the sites to guess your location correctly.
I never said anything about helping the sites to guess my location correctly (or at least didn't intend to.) (I also never said anything about problems with search engines, other than mentioning google in passing, and please ignore that mention going forward; the workaround for search engines works. It's a kluge, in the worst sense, but it is a working workaround, for search engines only.)
I DID say something about helping the sites to guess my continent or part of the world correctly!
So, can
Well, on the first site the geolocation is correct while in the second it isn't.
Sorry? What are you talking about? Not so. See below for the sites I mentioned; I'm not in Paris, the Ukrain, or Norway. So the first and second and third sites are ALL NOT correct.
@mrelvey said in Bug/WARNING: Opera VPN server location reported is ON WRONG CONTINENT!?:
*https://www.where-am-i.co/my-ip-location says I'm in Paris,
https://www.google.com thinks I'm in the Ukraine, etc.
LastPass thinks I'm in NORWAY. (All three while my server is 77.111.246.20)
I see the network - 77.111.246.0/24 is assigned to HernLabs of Sweden.@leocg also said:
Now, seeing that only the third section of the IP changes when you change the region, I think that there is a chance that they may be using some virtual IP.
Sorry? Again, what are you talking about? Again, not so. All the IPs start "77.111.246." Are you talking about the FOURTH section of the IP, which, indeed, changes?
Again, the entire /24 network - in which ALL the assigned VPN IPs can be found (AFAIK), whether nominally for the Americas, Europe or Asia - 77.111.246.0/24 - is assigned to HernLabs of Sweden, and is reachable ONLY via HernLabs of Sweden. Proof:
Opera actually owns an ASN - https://bgpview.io/asn/39832 - but these VPN IPs are NOT assigned to that ASN (proof, and thus are not reachable through it. Maybe the terms I'm using are over your head. If you aren't familiar with ASNs, BGP, /24, etc, please bring this to the attention of someone at Opera who IS familiar!
At Opera.com, that is netops@ and/or peering@ !
And at hernlabs.se, that is netops@ !So I ask: Is Opera willing to send the info to the 2 providers I mentioned that have it VPN IPs all geolocated wrong or not? Alternately, is it willing to (and able to) put them in its ASN?
I think I've explained why, but if it's STILL not clear that Opera has work to do to fix VPN geolocation problems, or how what I'm asking for would help with the problem I'm reporting (which is that the IPs are all in the same /24, which is only reachable via Sweden, let me know.Update: Hold on... Opera OWNS Hern Labs. So that changes things a bit. Will edit above if I still can. Otherwise, see any newer posts from me first.

RE: Please help-United States in not showing as one of the options!Opera for Windows
@sgunhouse Hey Opera: How about USING the US location to host the US VPN server? SO frustrating. I just saw at https://support.maxmind.com/geoip-data-correction-request/ , they state, "We do not accept requests to change anonymous proxy or VPN IP addresses."

RE: Bug/WARNING: Opera VPN server location reported is ON WRONG CONTINENT!?Opera for computers
@leocg It wasn't a problem 'till the switch to the new VPN system/infrastructure - to IPs that aren't even on the same continent as the IP registry they're from. So are you willing to send the info to the 2 providers I mentioned that have your IPs geolocated wrong or not?
I think I've explained why, but if it's not clear how it would help with the problem I'm reporting, let me know. -
RE: Bug/WARNING: Opera VPN server location reported is ON WRONG CONTINENT!?Opera for computers
@leocg IMO, that's a very partial fix. But thanks for the quick reply. The roadblock that I keep hitting, and this started pretty recently, is that multiple websites I have logins to are freaking out and either making it very hard to log in, or even straight up LOCKING MY ACCOUNTS because of where they think I'm logging in from. I probably should have mentioned that in my OP! (Can't now; it's not editable. Only recent posts are editable, it seems.)

Can someone with the info (from Opera?) on all the IPs please post it here and send it here? : https://ipinfo.io/contact

I see that in that post from 10 months ago, a staff member says "We're working on a proper fix".
https://www.iplocation.net shows some useful-to-such-a-fix info:

Good to pass that info on in case the right person(s) don't have it/forgot about this bug.

OK, this is REALLY CONFUSING/MESSED UP - - and explained at the end! ) Currently, Opera (Version:56.0.3051.52
Opera is up to date
Update stream:Stable
System:Mac OS X 10.11.6 64-bit)
with the VPN on, and "Bypass VPN for default search engines" OFF,

...OK I UNDERSTAND! Google is showing me CACHED CONTENT - hence the info is the IP of google's web spider.

Bug/WARNING: Opera VPN server location reported is ON WRONG CONTINENT!?Opera for computers
I'm using Opera: Version:56.0.3051.52/Opera is up to date/Update stream:Stable/System:Mac OS X 10.12.6 64-bit.
I have Opera's VPN enabled with the setting Americas, and "VPN" is blue, indicating it's working. But every* site I'm connecting to thinks I'm not in the New World (i.e. the Americas) even though that both is where I am AND is where I've told Opera to find a VPN server to use. I've tried reconnecting a couple times and I get a different IP, but it's always in the Old World.
This is not OK. If I've set/told it to connect from the Americas, which I have, and there aren't any VPN servers in the Americas it can connect to, the app should fail/say so, not connect anyway, but from somewhere else!!!*https://www.where-am-i.co/my-ip-location says I'm in Paris,
https://www.google.com thinks I'm in the Ukraine, etc.
LastPass thinks I'm in NORWAY. (All three while my server is 77.111.246.20)
I see the network - 77.111.246.0/24 is assigned to HernLabs of Sweden. -
RE: Opera_44.0.2510.857 crashingOpera for Mac
@mrelvey Did you try to download the installer from the official Opera website?
Yes, besides, what does it matter? The app is signed and the signature was checked by Gatekeeper.
@bleduc1: no mouse here, actually. Trackpad. And it's entering that triggers the crash; closing doesn't.
@zalex108: I also stated clearly that I'd tried a fresh profile.
But who cares. I see we've narrowed down the problem to being Ctrl+Click - triggered and Cmd+Click is a pretty good workaround.
Confirmed: for me too: Ctrl+Click - triggered and Cmd+Click is a workaround.
way to go @concretable and @bleduc1!
@shinto: I suggest you start a new thread for 2 and 3.

RE: Opera_44.0.2510.857 crashingOpera for Mac
Me too 44.0.2510.1218 crashes as before: "Opening any link in a new tab (by right clicking) and clicking on the new tab reliably crashes Opera." I was asked, "Could you try setting up an identifier so we can track your crash report in our database?"
and ran a defaults write com.operasoftware.Opera OPCrashEmail [...] command just now to do so.@bleduc1: Not using a tablet device of any kind. Never have. Seems like @sparky132, @starkrogers, @smparis? and I have this ...new tab issue on 4 very different MacBook Pros.
Hey, what extensions do you guys have? I just have lastpass.Same crash with it disabled. -
FAQs (make this a sticky!)Opera for Mac
Q:How do I disable updates on a Mac?
A: You can disable updates by setting a default setting, like this from the terminal:
defaults write com.operasoftware.Opera OPDisableAutoUpdate true
Q: Where do I get old versions?
A: Currently, ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop. Sadly, these downloads are insecure. (discussion)

RE: Opera_44.0.2510.857 crashingOpera for Mac
I installed 43.0.2442.1165. WFM too.
Unfortunately, it's auto-updated to the latest:
"43.0.2442.1165 - Restart Opera to update to version 44.0.2510.1159 Relaunch Now"

RE: Opera_44.0.2510.857 crashingOpera for Mac
How do I download 43.0.2442.1165 ? I can't find it at http://arc.opera.com/pub/opera/mac/ - nothing newer than 2013?!?
To answer my own question, see my answer at https://forums.opera.com/topic/20107/wrong-info-on-obtaining-old-versions/5
In short: ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop. Sadly, these downloads are insecure.

Linking to http://arc.opera.com/pub/opera/ while claiming to link to the Opera FTP archive - not cool!

Important feature. Kudos for explaining why and some ideas on how to deal with things that will come up when addressing it.

RE: Opera_44.0.2510.857 crashingOpera for Mac
I started with a clean profile and cache and still have the same problem.
Opening any link in a new tab (by right clicking) and clicking on the new tab reliably crashes Opera, including 44.0.2510.1159, which I recently updated to, and 44.0.2510.857. On a MacBookPro9,2 with 10.12.4 Beta (16E175b).
How do I disable autoupdate on Mac?
