This is still an issue! I had experienced so much frustration with this! Fix this please.
There are a few of these minor bugs of basic features that are very annoying. I am using opera since 2000s but I am seriously thinking of switching because of these.
@leocg this happens to me all the time - I think it mostly happens when the mouse enters the tabs space from underneath it, not sure what further conditions must be met but it fixes itself when the mouse leaves and reenters most of the time - I go to the right and back since that works more often than down and back.
This bug is very annoying and for quite some time now, should be fixed asap.

this happens to me on a regular basis, after an update or closing and opening opera all islands except for the current workspace are dissolved - tabs remain but are not grouped in islands
I like it, except favicons are not displayed, which makes navigating among bookmarks a bit harder.
Is this being worked on? Can we expect to see it added to Opera in the near future?

@leocg not sure how do you mean that, if I use address bar search, open a google result and then click on back button in opera browser - not using mouse, it goes back fine to the results - the same for forward
I am using Logitech MX Anywhere 3 mouse.
There seems to be issues with back and forward buttons:
Back button seems to be working fine in all but one case. When googling and clicking on a search result, upon clicking Back, it skips Google results page and goes straight to speed dial page. Happens every time. Don't think this skip happens in any other case.
Forward button does not work at all with default settings, currently I am using workaround for it (changed button function using Logitech Options software from function Forward to assigned keystroke Ctrl+Right), but even that works only 30-50% of the time. After some time it stops working, but a random click with a mouse anywhere on screen seems to repair it and the button can be used again.
Also Forward button similarly skips google results page, when clicked on speed dial page it goes straight to the page opened from results.
Tried reinstalling Opera, that didn't solve anything. This is happening for a while, but my current version is 74.0.3911.160
@floflo203 the only solution that really fixes the problem with having to hide the bar manually is to:
when you now add new bookmark by clicking the heart icon, the bookmark tab will appear, and the page you bookmarked will appear there, BUT only for a split second, before the edit bookmark window, where you can choose different folder, initializes
if the bookmark folder you saved your latest bookmark to is different than bookmark tab folder, the tab will be hidden, if not, it will stay
@leocg but this is not a fix. Is Opera working on fixing this issue, or what can I do to prevent that? It is very annoying, as this is not an occasional thing, it happens every time I start Opera.
On startup, my settings are set to Retain tabs from previous session. But on every start, opera not only retains the previous session but also opens a new page - particularly gmail.com. How can I fix this behavior? Thanks
Both Opera apps (Opera and Opera mini) for android fail to open youtube links in youtube app. It always opens in the browser. I tried Chrome and it worked. However in Opera case, it never even asked me which app i want to use for opening the link. I tried all combinations of settings and nothing worked. It is really annoying to not be able to open a video in youtube app.
Does someone have the same problem, or a resolution to this?
