Redirect loops with Opera but not with IE

On a few websites I have been getting the message below when I try to follow a link. On a couple of sites it only happened with some links, on another it happened with all links. But it did not happen with any of those sites if I was using Internet Explorer. Clearing cookies makes no difference, and 3rd party cookies were enabled. Could this be related to Opera, or is it more likely some security setting, eg anti virus, problem?
This webpage has a redirect loop
The webpage at http://www.dell.com/Learn/uk/en/ukdhs1/help-me-choose/hmc-hdd-desktop-consumer? has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer. -

A redirect loop is when the site says the page moved there, and then "there" says the page moved back here. Some sites - even these forums - do that in order to set a cookie, but if no cookie is set there is no way out of the loop - and then you get the error message.
If you are using Opera 12, some websites simply may not know what it is, and masking as a different browser may help.
