This is a terrible forced update. The UI is utterly atrocious. I just want to know if I can revert the look back, because this will finally force me to move to Firefox fully. I've been holding onto Opera solely because of the mouse Rocker function, but I will absolutely give that up in a heartbeat to get away from this new design.

Unbelievably dreadful update. I have lost all my workspaces with many gyazo images. The Tabs is now a disaster, and the perfectly fine address bar arrows to go back and forth through tabs has gone, and we have this totally unintuitive mess for tabs which I couldn't watch past the first 15 seconds.
Thanks a bunch, Opera! Words fail me at how something this stupid -and there is no other word for it - could even get the green light?! Have all the previous Devs gone, and some fresh graduates been taken on or what??? What a mess.

@t-bone-tone Oh, and I've just lost all my tabs. Magnificent job, Opera. Someone needs firing.

@t-bone-tone As for 'recovery' lol...BOTH options remove your pinned tabs! Facepalm.
Someone, please tell me this a horrible joke and I'm going to wake up with a working Opera browser instead of this nightmare of unintuitive bilge. -

@t-bone-tone Wow! I can see from your profile that you've been around a long time and so are thoroughly familiar with the Opera browser. I'm concerned that there is not going to be an easy way to go forward with Opera unless the devs address these issues I see being mentioned here. I had hopes that we could just remain with the previous version and that at least security updates would be provided but I've been informed that Opera will eventually stop those so it's either get onboard with the new version or navigate elsewhere. I hope the Opera engineers will address these issues so that Opera grows into the browser it once was.

@canadagoose4everreturns yes. There's an old saying, ignored by young Opera Devs...."If it ain't broke don't fix it."
Frankly, I am livid, and Opera deserve to go down the toilet with this abortion. -

@t-bone-tone Although my profile doesn't indicate it, I've been with Opera since 2000... back in the pay for the browser days either through ads or without. Switching from Presto to Blink and seeing the migration of engineers away from Opera and losing the MyOpera community was a shock but some of us managed to hang in there. I'm also disappointed with the current direction and frankly, I just am not sure to stick with it.

I managed to stay with Opera quite long despite those "nobody wanted" innovations like Lucid and AI things, probably for 15 or more years it was my base browser. At least they are switchable off. But now I am just too tired to face this abomination. RiP Opera and never more. Hope the management reads this. Do you? You are doomed.....

@canadagoose4everreturns Hi, I remember that time, when the switch from presto take place the browser comes out in a very basic state, even without bookmarks, This time with Opera One things gets a bit worse at least in the visual (speed dial, round edges everywhere, small padding between tabs), for me it was a Shock, and I survived the switch from presto to the current browser but now I have doubts about it.
I don't want to leave Opera and maybe I will switch to Gx for a while to see which direction the Normal version takes.
I call this downgrade rather than upgrade. -

@redbird14 When it happens again, try going to explorer and see if you can drag a file from your desktop into that folder. If it fails, it's not opera. If it doesn't fail, then it's either opera or something else.

@terminatedprocess As stated in my original message:
My workaround is to simply use another browser or if I'm in a hurry, I save the file to my desktop and copy it to my desired destination.
Both ^c/^v and dragging work from the desktop.
Note also, I don't have the issue with Firefox or Edge AND, sometimes not even with Opera. Its only every other update that it fails. Update1: works. Update2: fails. Update3: works. Update4: fails. Its as if some switch is flipped each update.
I have easy to implement workarounds. I don't need a solution although I appreciate your taking the time to respond. I'm just noting this in case some developer happens to see my post and knows right away what might be flipping between updates.
LOL...Based on what I'm reading here, I may be the only person who uses Opera who actually likes the new look. Especially the various Opera icons having been moved to the lower left (bookmarks, history, settings, downloads, extensions etc.). I use the dark theme and I like the royal blue icon contrast as well as the vertical bars that let you easily collapse/restore icons or tabs. Not wild about the splash screen though. Wish they'd give you a way to mute the noise it makes.

This feature should be inbuilt in opera since 1999 but it seems this are busy in redesigning to a point that is becoming useless and invisible,
-

@forestworker90 I'd be happy if they'd just bring back the 'Sessions' feature from PrOpera (Presto Opera) and import it into ChrOpera (Chromium Opera). That, and get rid of this ugly UI change.

@jito463 They wont be doing anything. Wishful thinking is good. See opera GX twitter handle and you will what vulgar content they are promoting and talking about and not what they are for.

I still don't get the fuss about the update, actually. I'm still waiting to run into my first bug with Opera One. And I'm using it on Mac, Win and Linux.
I installed the latest version of Vivaldi, just to compare. And only after seconds using it my fans were busy like hell on my Windows machine. They're mostly calm with Opera. It also doesn't sync workspaces like Opera does.
I even had the impression that on my old Linux machine One was more responsive than the versions before.Actually, I have to confess, Im getting used to it and beginning to like it. I'm missing the home button in the address bar. The modular design might be more kind of eye candy and I wished they gave us a bit more of customization.
I even installed the all new and hyped browser Arc. Only to see, that their "intro" is way longer and everything is even more colorful than One's design. But maybe that's the direction all manufacturers will go.
I'm using dark theme actually which doesn't look that different from the old one. Although I admit, it's another thing with the light one.All in all, I'm still pleased with Opera and don't see the need to switch. Especially as all the others have their issues, too. Opera gives me the perfect blend of features, simplicity and reliability - that others don't in this way.
As usual my only concern with Opera is the affiliation with China. But that's another cup of tea and isn't peculiar to Opera One. -

That is part of the problem. Few users here on the forum use light mode and are happy with the bubble- and border design.
The ones who think everything is jolly good are mostly on dark theme.

Of course, the black borders are not so noticeable with the dark navy background in dark theme, so the design doesn't look so ridiculous and most of the visual bugs and the 'bubbles' are just loosing somewhere there in the darkness.
That's why all the promotional screenshots and videos here in the blog are made in dark theme.*At the same time, apart from the absurd visual modules separation, I don't see advantages from these 'modules'. I still can't move any of modules, all is locked: icons set, sidebar, tabstrip and etc.

Opera update critical posts deleted
What a bunch of jokers. In my case months of work has been lost because of gross incompetence and tik tok level devs creating quite possibly the worst update in Opera history.
