Still facing this bug, very irritating. Opera is too impatient! Often it warns me of this, then immediately loads the page anyway?!

@alobpreis It's random, but usually one site for a few days, then another next time. It was Ebay today. Last time it was https://einsteinathome.org/ But it doesn't really matter which one does it, Opera just needs to allow more redirects before moaning.

@hucker Why would so many sites have random redirections? Usually you have none, or one at most (unless there is a login involved). I'd open the Developer Toolbar and check the Network tab to see what's going on.
With your site, it just redirected once to the /home url.Presumably sometimes the site has the need to do more. Since Opera doesn't tell me how many redirects and just says "too many", I can't troubleshoot. And of course a login is involved, people tend to login to Ebay! Just increase the number of times allowed for goodness sake. In fact it does usually load the page anyway! 1 second after telling me it didn't work! It's not even being consistent! I'll refrain from saying anything about how absolutely useless Opera is in every single regard, or the snotty nosed admin will be along in a minute to delete my post again! Make the browser work! I am the user, not the programmer, I'm not going to help them fix their own problems.

@hucker According to a few articles I've read, you can try cleaning cookies and cache to solve the issue. And, of course, report it to the site so they can fix their misconfigured page

@hucker I was referring to web sites in general, not a specific one. And of course you can use any of the mentioned sites without logging in. Does it only happen to you on sites where you are logged in, and try to access a private url?
As soon as it happens, if you reload the page, it works or does it fail again?
If it fails, check what I mentioned above in the Developer Toolbar. Or also you could still check it to see how many redirections occur.Do you use the same sites in other browser and they work fine there?
Another option is to try with a private window or a portable installation, to try to find what's causing this. How often does this happen?

Not exactly your problem, but I have noticed Opera sometimes going into redirect loop with some adblockers or redirects removing extensions - do your troubles continue, if you are using private window? (There most extensions are not active by default.)

I think so, although I'm already logged in by cookies or something. I'm not actually entering a password.

It corrects itself after a few seconds.

It never gets stuck forever, which is what annoys me, it's telling me one thing and doing another. I'll try to remember to check the developer toolbar next time. I can just switch that on and look back to see what happened 10 seconds ago?

I only use other browsers for pages that don't work with Opera.

Not often enough to try things like that. It used to do it every single time with Einstein, but not now.

I have dozens of adblockers. But I don't see why Opera minds those being there. If adblockers work by using redirects, then Opera needs to accept it. Mind you, Einstein has no ads on it, and that was the worst culprit.
It's not happening often enough at the moment to do tests.

I didn't say that adblockers use redirects; adblockers (and other extensions) may alter requests and site may issue some redirect, when it doesn't understand changed request. Well, usually this creates infinite loop; I have yet to see situation, when Opera blocks redirects and then problems solves itself.

If it starts to happen (and happens multiple times), then you may just open developer tools, network tab and watch for request statuses - they usually are 200 (success). If you see some 301 or 302 (redirects), then it would be interesting to see, which requests will be redirected.
Unfortunately you can't start dev tools after the fact - they must be active when problems occur. It woul be possible that some extension inserts someting into your requests or similar. Looking at einsten site loading it is really simple, without any redirects or even excessive script use (of course I have no idea, what happens while logging into it or afterwards).

Can I leave this running all the time so the information is there when it happens again?

Technically yes, it just captures quite big amount of data then.

Not mine, the main examples are Ebay and Einstein@Home.
