Auto pop-out don't work when I change between workspaces. Is this intentional?

Opera 82.0.4227.23 does not remember the "default browser" setting (Windows 7).

I understand what you mean.
However, Windows 7 has not been changed since Opera was upgraded to version 82.0.4227.23. Opera, on the other hand, has.
For all versions prior to 82.0.4227.23, Windows 7 remembered that Opera was the default browser. So why not now and why should Windows 7 be to blame. If it is, Windows 7 should be removed from the system requirements. -

Every time I open Opera 82.0.4227.23, a new bar appears below the bookmarks bar, which says on the left: "Do you want to set Opera as your browser for daily use?" On the right side of the bar there is a button "Yes, set as default browser".
After pressing the button, this bar disappears. However, it will reappear the next time you start the browser.

With the current build and perhaps the one before it, I'm not sure of the dates, I've been getting a site crash or two every day. Various sites, the last one just now being at eBay. The page opens, then all of a sudden there's a message that it crashed. Never happened before this.

@scyllo Is there an "x" at the right of that bar? If so, click it instead and see if it stops bugging you.

@scyllo In that case, it's an Opera issue as it seems. Try setting a different browser as the default one and then set Opera as default again.
The amazing thing is: Opera is not listed at all within the "Default programs" (Set default programs).
Only Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge browsers are there.
But these are all Not set as default browsers (which is correct).
What's also strange is: Currently, the prompt asking if I want to set Opera as the default browser no longer shows up (the question is, how long does this last?)!
Yes, there is always an "x" on the right side of the bar. I had also clicked on this in the meantime. But it brought no improvement (not even after a restart of Opera).

5 days later and still:
Package: opera-stable
Version: 81.0.4196.60Seriously, why is there (seemingly) no automatism to push new releases to your repository? That's really a basic requirement for rolling releases.

Hi @lorenz1, one of the reasons could be to check the current count of potential users of Opera on Linux.
Whatever the reason is, you can download and install the new version from ftp servers. You might as well use the links to packages (including the snap version) provided above in the content of the blog post.

So you had the same problems as me? Also on Windows 7 or on Windows 10/11?
I have now backed up the profile folder, uninstalled Opera, rebooted the system, reinstalled Opera and then restored the profile folder.
So far, the request to make Opera the default browser has not appeared.
But under "Default Programs" -> "Set Default Programs" Opera is still not listed!

Opera cannot show the video below while Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome can.
