Possible confusion here. Default search engine does not change the search seen in the start page. The default search is the one used in the address bar or search field or when you select text in a page. You can't change the speed dial search (without changing your locale), only hide it.

@youinheart20 You can't. Only built-in search engines can be set as default.

Is it an Opera thing, or a Windows (10) thing, that the taskbar button colour is a deep orange? Thanks.

@rd-frable As rule number one would probably have told you, it usually means that you have a broken download in your downloads list. Clear the list and everything should back to normal.

I use Opera on several computers. I love the idea that Opera synchronises my passwords - but don't seem to be able to synchronise the speed dial entries for my primary workstation to my other computers or vice versa.
Opera on my Android Phone can show me which speed dial entries are on which computer, but none of my Windows computers can do the same.
How can I synchronise my speed dial entries between computers? I need to be able to add an entry on one computer (or my phone) and have it immediately appear on all my other computers.
                Please advise.

@manxman Like in Opera for Android, Speed Dials from other devices can be found in Other Speed Dials, just go to the bookmarks page, opera://bookmarks.

                    Hi all,

I am using another pc for a while. so I activated synchronization, which works.

Just - the quick bookmarks - of which I had a loot! - do not show up on my new tabs like before. just the standard ones after installing opera new on a device.

When I open the bookmark library, they are there, but they do not show up as the big icons on the new tab.

latest opera version, right now installed.

                    any ideas!?

                    thank you!

I add the view of the tab, where there should be some 50 icons or so and the opened bookmark library with the view (german language) of the Quick Bookmarks list, where you can see, there are several devices stored.

But that cant be the reason, because I already had another change a while ago, there, the quick bookmarks were all showed properly on the new tabs althoug several devices stored.

@sunsplash As already said several times, Speed Dials from other devices/installations can be found in Other Speed Dials, accessible through the bookmarks page (opera:/bookmarks).
You can copy them to Speed Dial in the same page to have those Speed Dials in the current installation.

@leocg thank you, I didnt find my posting nor did I know what speed dials are, but tracking your last posting, I found your answer:

worked immediately - thank you! very happy, I have "my" "speed dials" back 🙂

Not everything is as self-explaining, as you guys seem to think they are 😉

there were no titles .. my nickname wasnt shown on the page "topic for things ..."

I have selected duckduckgo as my default search engine. However, when i open the Opera browser a box with the Google logo and "search the web" is present in the window. It is true there is also a box where I can select duckduckgo (which I always choose), but why must the box with Google always come up at the top of the browser.

Can I do anything to eliminate the Google box?

                          Thanks

@daveosaurus-rex You can turn off the search in Speed dial. Go to Settings > Advanced > Browser and in the Start page section enable Hide search box.

On my Android smart phone I created links to web pages using the 'Add to home screen feature', and grouped them. I have over a hundred stock links. Independantly I also have bookmarked and grouped web pages on my pc Opera browser. I am maintaining both. How can I syncronize this so that what I have on my Android appears in pc Web Opera browser and vice versa? Be nice if they can be grouped into one and syncronized.
                              Thanks.

Basically you go to Other Speed Dials in both.

@danikastanley That's normal, it's probably just Opera promoting a partner site.

Hello. This morning I discover in my fast access a link as a favorite from/about the Unicef!
How can you explain that, please?

Hi, I've just switched to Opera due to ongoing problems with the very resource-heavy Firefox but with just one tab open in my Windows 10 version of Opera, task manager shows 13 incidences of Opera processes open and running! This is actually worse than Firefox was..... What is Opera doing to and with my PC that is beyond just giving me access to the internet?
Thanks in advance for your views

@unionfan That's how Chromium works, with a different processor for each thing running.
You can use Shift + Esc to see what are those processes.
