Problem viewing videos on many websites

I can't view some videos on different websites. I get a message telling me to update Quicktime. I can view videos on Youtube with no problem.
I just installed Opera yesterday and the only extension I have for Opera is LastPass. I am hoping that there are other Extensions that I need to install to fix the problem.
In fact, I would appreciate it if someone can point me to a list of Extensions that I would probably want as well as how to configure Opera for new users. I haven't been able to find anything like that.
I'm running :
Opera Version: 36.0.2130.80
System: Windows XP 32-bitI suspect XP is probably my problem:))
Any help is greatly appreciated.

@zeekstern I guess it's time to update your OS and Opera as they are no longer supported.
By the way, do you have a couple of examples? Quicktime is so 1990s, it made me curious.

Thanks for the quick reply leocg. Much appreciated!!
Don't like your answer, but I guess I was expecting it.The website that has the examples is
https://www.steppublishers.com/sample-video
The name of the website is Step Publishers. I'm telling you that because I cannot get to it using the Opera browser on my Win XP machine. I get the good ole "The webpage might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address."
Below that is probably the "real reason": "ERR_SPDY_INADEQUATE_TRANSPORT_SECURITY".Of course I can get to it on my Win10 machine. I hate to get rid of the XP system. I got it back in 2001 and it lasted until the hard drive died and I got a new Pc, which was in 2008. It has been running ever since with no problems.
Opera is very fast on the XP machine, a lot faster than Chrome. I'm thinking about trying it on my Win10 system. I really hate Chrome.
Oh, is there any documentation or website that has a list of the extensions or add-ons one might get when first starting out with Opera? You know, those "gotta have this" extensions if you want to check mail or something like that? Thanks again!!

@zeekstern That site offers the videos in .mov format, that's why you are being asked about QuickTime. You won't be able to view it in Opera, even in current version, since Opera can't play .mov videos.

@zeekstern XP (probably) lacks support for more modern security protocols and has old certificates and it is expected that many things will not work with it anymore.
