      Go to Settings and search (use the search box) for Autofill. You'll see a listing for "Addresses" - click that. If the address you don't want is shown there, click on the 3 dots on the right side so you can either edit it to correct it or just delete it.

        @sgunhouse

        Thanks, but there's nothing there.

        I forgot to mention in my previous post that I'd uninstalled/reinstalled Opera. That would probably have cleared any stored addresses, but the unwanted address still appears.

        I've just tried turning off autofill (even tho there wasn't anything there) & exiting/restarting opera....it didn't resolve it.

        I also used CCleaner & selected all of the possible sections for opera, including "saved form information"....it also didn't sort out the problem.

        I've just installed opera on my phone, went to google maps & the address is not there. I uninstalled & tried with opera mini....ditto

        Maybe it's not opera itself but some interaction between google maps & opera for windows? If so how do I find out what & how can I change it?

        & why the one address that has very emotional associations & not other addresses from before or since? That's a rhetorical question, though I'd be seriously impressed if you could answer it šŸ˜‰

          Some websites do remember their own data - adding new data and telling them to set that as your "home" or "default" address should work.

            Hi

            As I wrote in my initial post, my home address is set to different address to the one I want to get rid of. I've just deleted my home address & re-entered it, just in case....nope, although my home address is where I live now, the unwanted one still appears in the map search field by default

            Thanks anyway & any other suggestions welcomed

              Did you try to select it on the list and then click on the X or use shift + del to delete it?

                @leocg
                I selected then clicked X..........what would the difference be?

                I've just tried again using shift + delete but that doesn't seem to do anything. I can't select my home address without it opening, I tried R click but there's nothing. It seems that the only way to delete is with the X.............unless there's a way I don't know about.

                Just to be clear: my home address is the only thing saved in "Your Places" & it's a different address to the one I want to get rid of

                Thanks

                  Do you see the address as soon as the page opens or do you see it in a drop-down list to be selected when you click on the search field?

                    By the way, do you see the address if you use a private window?

                      I see it as soon as the page opens, it's there by default. Ditto in a private window

                        Did you already try to remove cookies and site data?

                        The problem happens with a clean profile?

                          @leocg

                          I'm not sure what you mean when you refer to a clean profile

                          So far I've:

                          • Deleted my maps history in both opera on my PC & my phone (so they couldn’t sync), but it keeps reappearing in maps on the PC
                          • Checked opera autofill settings….there’re no addresses stored there. I turned off autofill & exited/restarted opera….same issue
                          • Used CCleaner & selected all of the possible sections for opera, including "saved form information"....it also didn't sort out the problem
                          • Installed opera on my phone, went to google maps & the address is not there. I uninstalled & tried with opera mini....ditto
                          • Uninstalled Opera with CCleaner, including all cookies
                          • Manually deleted all opera folders still left in C:\
                          • Used regedit to find & delete all ā€œOperaā€ or ā€œoperastableā€ entries
                          • Reinstalled opera

                          I’ve looked at my google account & the only thing I can see even vaguely relating to that address is in data & personalisation > web & app activity > manage activity - it tells me that yesterday I viewed the area around the unwanted address, but it doesn’t have that specific address, just the area it’s in

                          I’ve just signed into my google account on a different PC & opened maps & the address is not there. There shouldn’t be any trace of this address on my PC after the cleaning I carried out above. I’m very puzzled that it only happens in opera for windows & only on this machine

                          I’m not only frustrated by this, I’m now also intrigued….it’s become a puzzle to solve!

                            Don't know if you deleted the Opera folders with your data.

                              Did you update your computer location info?

                              Did you give Google Maps access to your location?
