Interrupted : Insufficient Permissions - unable to download email attachments in Gmail opened in Opera

Since upgrading to Opera 53.0, I am unable to download email attachments when Gmail is opened in Opera. I keep getting the message Interrupted : Insufficient permissions. This was not a problem before the upgrade, nor is it a problem when I download the same attachment with Gmail opened in Firefox or Outlook. I thus assume that somehow the upgrade modified my settings in Opera, but I cannot figure out what or where. Any ideas?

You using the new Gmail at mail.google.com or the classic? Does it happen with all types of attachments or just a certain file type?
I can't confirm with a .txt file with the new look. I'm Windows though and my Opera profile is super fresh.
If you log into mail.google.com in a private windows and try it, does it work there?

@burnout426 Thanks for the interest. I am using the new Gmail, the problem concerns at least excel and pdf files, so it probably is a general issue and I still have the problems in private windows. My suspicion is that the answer lies with Opera and not Gmail, as I am able to open the same attachments that give me problems in Opera, in other browsers such as Firefox and Outlook.

Same problem for me, I'm on Ubuntu Linux platform, but I have problems in attachment downloads.

I'm having the same problem with downloading files in Opera 53.0 on my Mac. It only started happening in the last few days. Again, these downloads work fine in other browsers.

I have never seen this issue in Windows, but as a moderator I read the topic anyway. So no, it is not a more general issue.
In some cases your network or firewall can interrupt a download, but the message (in Windows anyway) wouldn't say "Insufficient permissions". I was originally going to say something about firewalls a couple of days ago until I recalled it was the wrong message, so I canceled my reply. Though I wondered if it was similar to the keychain issue other Mac users are reporting.

On MAC OS High Sierra 10.13.4 I have the same issue when trying to download files from websites using Opera. It started with the upgrade to v53.x
53.0.2907.68 - Opera is up to date
When downloading any file within Opera
“Interupted: Insufficient permissions”
Is there a Preference which can impact downloading files (.pdf, .iso and .exe have all failed)
I'm back to -

@iholloway2301 I am having the same issue in W7, even trying to re install Opera, also with trying to download flash player. Not sure what to do other than go back to Firefox...

@marveroluis God forbid. I have been using Opera since version 0 precisely because it has been largely bug free. I hope that our Norwegian friends have taken note that they have a problem that seems to be extensive and is considering the faithful to abandon ship.

Tried with pdf attachments and viewing them and downloading them works fine. Tried new Gmail interface and the classic. Opera 53.0.2907.68 x64 on Windows 10.

@burnout426 Thank you for your feedback. This is yet another confirmation that this problem does not seem to concern Windows users.

Is there still no fix for this issue? If not I'm going to have to change to another browser permanently.

Not everyone is having this issue, so there is some situation on your system or perhaps a specific configuration of Opera that triggers it.
Could you try running Opera with a temporary profile to see if you still have the problem then? You can do that by entering this in a Terminal.app instance:
open /Applications/Opera.app --args --user-data-dir=$HOME/.opera-throwaway
Now try logging into gmail and downloading your documents again. If the problem occurs again in the same way, we know that it's not your Opera configuration causing it. If the problem is fixed, we can start seeing what in your profile is triggering this behavior.

I don't use Gmail. And I don't understand your instructions. Please clarify.
