Messengers in sidebar are lagging/slow

I've been using opera for the past year and have had Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp Messenger in my sidebar. They worked perfectly until a couple of weeks ago when all of a sudden both messengers started lagging heavily. Typing is slow, if I click on something, it takes about 5 seconds for it to finally load/register. Is anyone else experiencing this and if so, is there a fix? I loved having them connected to my browser but it's more of a hassle than a help now.

Bump
Been having the same issue as this, but additionally: I've noticed stuttering in regular browsing and especially when watching YouTube. If you right click on the Sidebar and uncheck "Facebook Messenger" it seems to help with the stuttering, but that still begs the question as to why this happens. -

@leocg: Has anyone re-posted this issue in the Opera for Windows forum? Is this a known issue? I’ve been experiencing this in the same timeframe, too.

@avl: I’m continuing to experience this issue as well with 51.0.2830.55 in Windows 10. Is this a known issue? Other users here are reporting 100% CPU usage for the messenger sidebar window as well.

Hello.
Here is the temporal fix, waiting for an update.
Steps :
1 - download this : ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/51.0.2830.34/win/ (The autoupdate)
2 - After the installation, close Opera. Add this to your Shortcut : "--disable-update" (without quots)
This should looks like this : "C:\Program Files\Opera\launcher.exe" --disable-update
3 - Start Opera. Enjoy

^^^^^^^^^EDIT ^^^^^^^^^^ (You can delete my previous post, I didn't found the edit button)
Steps :
1 - Uninstall Opera (do not check the box or you'll lost bookmarks and everything http://prntscr.com/iw18uj ). You'll lost extensions because of the downgrade, so make backup (for Tampermonkey for exemple...)
2 - download this : ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/51.0.2830.34/win/ (The SETUP x64)
3 - Install Opera throught the new file. Then add this to your Shortcut : "--disable-update" (without quots)
This should look like this :
"C:\Program Files\Opera\launcher.exe" --disable-update
4 - Start everytime Opera with the edited shortcut. Otherwise Opera will do updates. Download back your extensions and Voilà : http://prntscr.com/iw18kx

Thanks so much for the detailed instructions and warnings, @charoki60 —So refreshing to be using a version of Opera that works properly again! It’s quite distressing how much the experience has deteriorated since that release. I hope Opera is taking note of these issues and working to restore this functionality. Thanks once again. Cheers!

@charoki60: With this version are you also having issues with Windows 10 failing to associate (not allowing) protocols and file types with Opera (For example: http/s)?

@charoki60: Are you also noticing that WhatsApp continues to be sluggish in this version? I would have expected it to perform as well as FB Messenger, but somehow it’s still lagging badly for me.

@kaprikorn26 Hello ! Unfortunatly the high cpu usages and typing freezes were back the next day even with my "fix" for me Maybe you should try to downgrade ever more. I'll give a try if I found the motivation lol, it pissed me off

I found a solution for myself on another site. Running Opera for mac 56.0.3051.52
Turns out the Amazon Honey extension was causing the lag. Disabled the extension....no issue....hope it helps others....was very frustrating. -
