The same problem here for the last 4 days. It happended when i cleared cookies. After that i have the 2013(old) version of Google. The extension indeed corrects it but this isnt the solution. Im looking forward for Opera to step in and demand from Google to fix this bug.

I can confirm that this is annoyingly happening now on OS X as well. Google search results are displayed using the old design. Wow.
Don't really want to change the user agent, as this kind of behaviour reduces Opera's already minuscule share in website visiting statistics even further. Which can't be good for the browser (nor its users) in the long run.

OK the extension suggested above appears to require activation each time Opera is started. I've found this extension for Chrome which doesn't need to be configured each time you start Opera, you just configure it once and it'll remember the settings. Here's the link: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg
I just choose "Windows Firefox 15" works great. The extension should work in Opera, if not, you need this extension forst (it allows for the installation of Chrome apps into Opera) https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/download-chrome-extension-9/?display=en
One problem I've noticed with both extensions is that everytime you open an image from the facebook string and then close it again, the string goes back to top, now I have to open every string image in a new tab to prevent that.

Same here. Clearing all cookies did'n work, but the add-on did. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

Unfortunately the add-on isn't a prefect solution. It works perfectly to get google back in line, but when the add-on is active, sites like facebook load very very slowly or doesn't do anything at all.
So I have to switch the add-on on or off for some websites. I too hope they fix this asap.

In Opera for Android, Google do not work properly. The start page of Google when you click on the three lines to see the menu you can not scroll down.

I know it is wrong but it is about the user agent and google interface. But it will not happen again

I managed to get rid of the facebook problem (string jumps to top every time you open an image). Just use the app I've recommended above and choose Safari > OSX Safari 5

Now I don't get a full screen option for images on facebook, I'm sick of this, I think I'm gonna change the browser...dunno which one to choose, they're all stupid, the newer the more stupid.

Yeah, that's the solution. Google breaking some stuff -> "I'm gonna switch browser!"... Oh boy...

Can'f figure out how to use the user-agent-switcher mentioned by hal-man. What exactly do you enter and where. No information at all in the Extension's website about how to use it! If I am using it correctly it does not work!

Changing the user agent to make a mainstream website work properly, oh dear!
Seems the compatibility problems we always suffered with the Presto versions of Opera aren't over yet.
They'll be putting browser.js (or an equivalent) back next!
(I know this isn't actually a compatibility problem, of course Blink Opera is compatible, as was Presto a lot of the time, it's just sites not recognising Opera and serving code which makes the site malfunction.)

User Agent Switcher for Chrome works well. I keep it disabled and only have added a rule to change user agent to "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; MSIE 11.0; Trident/7.0 - Opera 20 Pretending IE because of Google)" So on other websites my ua is unchanged
