Select multiple tabs and drag to a new window

OMG. I thought I was going nuts when it didn't work with Shift as I was used to in Chrome. I am trying to switch to Opera since Opera is supposed to be using more resources, but how are you supposed to organize your work without being able to split out tab groups?
I often have more than 50 tabs open and need to re-group the tabs by the projects I am working on or just split some out from another set if the group gets big enough to warrant it.
How is anyone using more than 15 tabs working well without that feature?
I have now installed the Chrome extension Tab Scissors -

Necrothread, I know, but I can't upvote this feature enough. I just discovered I'm unable to do this. I use tabs so much, an inability to drag multiple tabs into a new window is highly problematic for me.
Please, please, please add this feature. I'm ok with using an extension, so if someone knows one, please let me know.

How do I move a selection of tabs to a new window in Opera?
(without using extensions)
WIN10-64. Opera 57.0.3098.116.

This is my least favourite part of working with Opera. Chrome, Firefox, and even Microsoft Edge for Mac all support this. What's really weird is that you can highlight multiple tabs and then right click to close, duplicate, refresh them. You just can't move them, if you drag and drop, only the highlighted tab is moved.

Was just going to suggest this when I found this thread.
I would love to be able to do this. I just tried it in the
latest Chrome and that works for me.Hope Opera adds this sometime.

This is one thing I too have found lacking...you can select multiple tabs; but cant move them to a new window anything of the sort...
And coming from Chrome it.s a feature I miss dearly! -

Ugh. It's already been more than a year since I asked about this.
Please, please, please add this feature. Saving a group to speed dial isn't at all the same thing.

@okakosolikos We probably will only know when a version with it is released.

It's weird this elementary function doesn't work.
I select multiple tabs then right click and "save tabs as dial folder" then "open in new window".But it is not for everyday using as I am accustomed.

Plus one for this from me.
What I find odd is that you can ctrl/shift + select multiple tabs, the UI does support this, yet you can't do anything with them!
Please add!

I was just about to post a similar thread/question. Please dev team @Opera do something about this. I ran into multiple occasions now where I wanted this functionality, this is something one would expect from a comprehensive browser as Opera.
Functionality like:- Select tabs by holding down shift and drag them loose; or
- Select tabs by holding down shift and have a right click option 'move to new window'.
Is something that would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards

It's so weird that this is still not possible. Even for workspaces there's the option to select mutliple tabs and send them to a workspace, but not with new windows? Where's the logic in this?

This one, obviously really-good-feature is still not implemented in Opera. There are several articles on the web about using selecting and dragging groups of tabs - or saving groups of tabs to a bookmark folder - but in every case Opera was not on the list in the how-to article. (An example: https://www.makeuseof.com/bookmark-all-tabs-chrome-firefox-edge-brave-safari/) I really like Opera but the one most annoying thing missing in Opera is the ability to select groups of tabs to bookmark into a single folder (and, of course, subsequently dragging bookmark folders around at will later which Opera DOES support). Without this one bookmark function I am going to, sadly, have to pass on further use of Opera. Since the original post on this topic was way back in 2017, maybe I will re-visit Opera every few years to see if the function has been implemented or not.

@sgunhouse Would not select, drag and drop multiple tabs to new window be an easy feature for Opera to implement?
We can do this with one tab, why not a selection of more?
Needing to save as Speed Dial Folder for moving tabs to a new windows is a large workaround.

Yes, it should be easy.

I consider it unfinished work on the handling of tab selections. As in, the tab-selection feature is not complete yet because of this and work on it stalled before completion. But, that's my opinion.
