Windows 8.1 x64 here and this is the first time this has happened to me! Checksum and signature is all ok.
anybody else with this problem or do I need the x64 installer from now on ? -
l33t4opera last edited byHi @albert71292, after you have enabled it in the flags, you need to tick the checkbox on the left of the "Enable search box in the address bar" option in Settings > User interface (to be able to see this option, please make sure, that you have enabled "Show advanced settings" option under the "Advanced settings" section).

'38' working great for me, except I had to grab a different You-Tube Downloader....That worked fine, too!

Hi @albert71292, after you have enabled it in the flags, you need to tick the checkbox on the left of the "Enable search box in the address bar" option in Settings > User interface (to be able to see this option, please make sure, that you have enabled "Show advanced settings" option under the "Advanced settings" section).
"Enable search box in the address bar" isn't showing up there in Developer 38, even though I have "Show Advanced Settings" AND "Always show power user settings" checked. The option DOES appear, however, in the newest Stable and Beta builds.

Hi @ratbag31, "Are you on win xp or vista? Since we have moved XP and Vista to maintenance mode, only security updates based on O36 version will be delivered to these systems." - the source link.

Finally got the option to appear after uninstalling, then reinstalling the browser.

- Adblocker now consumes a lot less memory on start (up to 100MB less!)

Why we are adding free VPN in Opera

Thatâs why Operaâs built-in free VPN feature is easy to use. To activate it, Mac users just need to click the Opera menu, select âPreferencesâ and toggle the feature VPN on, while Windows and Linux users need to go to the âPrivacy and Securityâ section in âSettingsâ and enable VPN there. A button will appear in the browser address field, from which the user can see and change location (more locations will appear later), check whether their IP is exposed and review statistics for their data used. Add your own photo as theme
Some time ago, we introduced the âCreate your themeâ option in the theme manager. It turned out, though, that the option was not visible enough for users. Now just go to Customize startpage and click â+â button and use your own photos to create a theme.
Extension button visible on the Speed Dial side panel
All extension users will have the extension manager always handy. The extension icon is visible on side panel on the left side of the Speed Dial page.
Support for adding a personal ad blocker list
Our ad blocker now contains support for adding your own block lists. To add your own custom list file, head to Settings and click the âCustom Block Listsâ button in the ad-blocking section (note that âShow advanced settingsâ from the âBrowserâ panel must be enabled to see the button).
The lists have to be in EasyList-style format, and you can use existing lists such as the EasyList affiliate lists to ensure you get to block all that you want. As a reminder, Opera itself provides a block list based on the publicly available EasyList and EasyPrivacy.
Speed Dial improvements
Did you ever remove your speed dial accidentally? Now you wonât. Youâll notice three little dots on hover in place where close button used to be. It has the same content as context menu, so you can open, edit or remove speed dial."

Video pop out updates

The detach button is now available even when video is covered by an overlay content. This means you can detach videos embedded on the site (DNA-52223) and within, for example, the iframe tag.

On sites other than YouTube, there should be a sliding toolbar visible asking if you really want to detach the video window.
VPN updates

A nasty crash on startup when VPN is enabled is now fixed.

Dear Sir/Madame,
Today I lost 20 open tabs when I inadvertently closed Opera browser, they were all tabs on subjects I was researching.
I know I can go through the laborious process of restoring one by one from History.
Is there a way to "undo last action" or can you create "restore" button which Chrome browser has,
which I stopped using because it used to crash so much.I feel that today's and future users of Opera would much appreciate that

Windows 7 Ultimate on 64-bit PC
I rarely use the "mail" dedicated key on my keyboard, as I start my preferred email client (Thunderbird)from the taskbar.
However, I tried using it today, and was surprised that it launched Opera Developer 38.0.2213.0 rather than Thunderbird. A quick look at file associations shows that "mailto" protocol had been reassigned to Opera Developer.
After changing "mailto" back to the Thunderbird default, I started up Opera Dev. again, which immediately grabbed back the "mailto" assignment.
I want to choose which email client I use, and therefore I'd like to know how to stop Opera Dev. from doing this.

Control Panel > Default Programs > Set Default Programs > Select Opera > Set the defaults for this program > Mark all but Mailto
Then select Thunderbird and make sure Mailto is selected.

Hi,
I'm inside network where all ports except 80 an 443 are blocked (proxy is used to reach outside URLs). Do you plan to support such case by your built-in VPN service?

Then select Thunderbird and make sure Mailto is selected.
I guess it may help.I've done that several times, but the problem is that every time Opera Dev. starts up, it changes the mailto default back to itself from whatever I have set it to (in this case, Thunderbird).
It's obviously rewriting the mailto entry in the Registry, and I imagine that it's because Opera might again have a built-in email client. That's fair enough, but my email system in Thunderbird is carefully set up to filter, classify and archive "stuff", and that's the client I plan to keep using for the moment. I'm happy to use an Opera email client (as used to be the case) under some circumstances, but I do not want it to be the default mailto - not least because it will have no connection to my Thunderbird Address Books, where outgoing email addresses are stored by default.
