Built in PDF viewer not very usable with find

I just switched from using the PDFXchange pdf plugin to the built in Chrome pdf Viewer because it was the PDFXchange plugin that was causing the keyboard to lockup.
The Ctrl-f (Find) function of the Chrome pdf viewer is not very functional. Try this as an example...

Search on "camp." Very hard to spot (But you can find if you look close). In the PDFXchange viewer its very brightly bolded when it finds the search word. Not highlighted very well with the Chrome PDF viewer.
In checking the PDFXchange, Adobe, Foxit plugins I don't think they offer a ppapi plugin.
Is there any internal settings for the Chrome PDF viewer? Or, can you set up Opera to open a pdf in a external program automatically without having to save it?
