He wants a "View New Posts" feature that only lists all new posts since his last logged in session. Different forum software handles this function differently.
The most common "View New Posts" feature just only shows a list of all threads with new posts where clicking a "View New Post" link or image by a thread jumps the user to the 1st new post in that thread.
Older posts won't be hidden, but will be above the 1st new post in the thread unless if the 1st new post spawned a new thread page. In case of the latter, older posts will still visible on the previous page.

Personally, I click on "Discussions". All threads sorted by latest post. Helps me find the spammers quickly since they aren't sorted into "forums", but if I see a topic I might want to reply to I have to remind myself to look and see which forum it was from.

Is that that my latest post in the now upper thread in "Windows" was removed? As if it was - like immediately.

I don't mind - just tell me if it was a glitch or...Well, no recent post of yours seems to have been deleted.
I've faced similar issue a while ago: i posted something and everything seemed ok but some time later i just noticed that my post was gone and there was no indication about how it happened.

Decided to post here.
It seems that the notorious "not showing post" bug has now been dealt with - today I posted about three times since morning - I could see my replies appearing nicely. Didn't check about the tab history though.

Now I've edited too - guess what?
I have a page with only "two and a half posts": a double OP plus my edited post (looking nice and single).
