@ghadhika Presumably something to do with suggestions or autocomplete ... what appears when you start typing?

@sgunhouse When I type the first letter, it normally shows the most visited website that starts with that letter. The problem is that the rest of the URL stops being highlighted so that I can keep typing, like I clicked the mouse somewhere else and the cursor left the address bar.

@ghadhika I'm currently on Developer (their name for the Beta) and don't see this there, but then again I've disabled a few of the address bar features (promoted suggestions, for example) and maybe that does it?

I've been having the same issue as ghadhika. It has been happening for the last 2 to 3 weeks and has persisted after a couple Opera updates.

I have all "Enhanced address bar" options disabled and have played with a few other toggles to troubleshoot. Nothing seems to fix it.

I'm currently using Opera version 122.0.5643.51 and Windows 11 Pro version 10.0.26100 Build 26100.

@BuzzKilled Does it happen in a test standalone installation too?

Does closing Opera and deleting the "History" file in the profile folder (path at the URL opera://about) avoid the crash?

I disabled all the enhanced address bar options, I deleted the History file from my profile, but no change. Still the same issue.

This is happening to me as well, exactly as ghadhika described. Like BuzzKilled, I've tried toggling different options and nothing is fixing it. Using version (122.0.5643.51)
It started a week or so ago and it's honestly annoying enough to make me think about going back to Chrome.

I am having the same issue.

I have found that it happens 100% when you:

                        1. open new tab
                        2. hower new tab heading with mouse to show a toolip (with emojis)
                        3. start typing when tooltip is shown

it will show a suggestion (or just prints one letter if no suggestions) and stops updating adress bar.

And yes, this problem started with one of recent updates. Like 1-3 weeks ago

@Lenn1 So true! Nice find. But even without the hovering over tab, the issue appears really often, just not 100% of the times.

@Lenn1 You're right. I'd never thought about that. Thank you! At least working around that will help, even if it's only part of the time.
I hate that stupid tooltip/emoji bar anyway. I have no use for emojis on my browser tabs.

@Melodicah Well, I wouldn't really call it a workaround, cause I never used that tooltip anyway. Maybe it will help the developers find out what causes the problem and solve it.
