I have a weird problem recently.
When I open a new Opera window or tab and start to type the URL on the address bar, right after the first letter, the typing stops, like I clicked somewhere else and the cursor leaves the address bar.
It happens only when I open a new tab or window, never when I type on one that is already on an another website, and always right after the first letter. And no, my mouse works fine, it doesn't gets clicked on its own.
It doesn't happen every time, but it happens often.
Any way to fix it? Thank you.
      Opera version 122.0.5643.17

Despite the latest small update (122.0.5643.24), the issue persists and it gets more and more annoying. Any help?

@ghadhika Presumably something to do with suggestions or autocomplete ... what appears when you start typing?

@sgunhouse When I type the first letter, it normally shows the most visited website that starts with that letter. The problem is that the rest of the URL stops being highlighted so that I can keep typing, like I clicked the mouse somewhere else and the cursor left the address bar.

@ghadhika I'm currently on Developer (their name for the Beta) and don't see this there, but then again I've disabled a few of the address bar features (promoted suggestions, for example) and maybe that does it?

I've been having the same issue as ghadhika. It has been happening for the last 2 to 3 weeks and has persisted after a couple Opera updates.

I have all "Enhanced address bar" options disabled and have played with a few other toggles to troubleshoot. Nothing seems to fix it.

I'm currently using Opera version 122.0.5643.51 and Windows 11 Pro version 10.0.26100 Build 26100.

@BuzzKilled Does it happen in a test standalone installation too?

Does closing Opera and deleting the "History" file in the profile folder (path at the URL opera://about) avoid the crash?

I disabled all the enhanced address bar options, I deleted the History file from my profile, but no change. Still the same issue.

This is happening to me as well, exactly as ghadhika described. Like BuzzKilled, I've tried toggling different options and nothing is fixing it. Using version (122.0.5643.51)
It started a week or so ago and it's honestly annoying enough to make me think about going back to Chrome.
