Hi,
How do you turn off the annoying noise and large O notification when Opera updates?
I found where to turn this off previously but it has just started doing it again and I definitely didn't turn it on again!
Thanks

@davidc-surrey You can't disable it, but it shouldn't have any sound.

@leocg It's possible there was no sound; I had my speakers off at the time. I just assumed it did, because it used to.
We used to be able to turn this off, because it delays your web browsing while it self-promotes, so it is quite intrusive. It would be far better just to open the browser window and overlay a single line message on that and allow you to type in the search box while it informed of the update.
I shall try to find the suggestion option!

As Opera dev version (which updates weekly or even more often) user, I've got the 'nasty' habit - when Opera indicates updates, I navigate to Opera installation folder, find the latest version subfolder, find the "opera_gx_splash.exe" and rename it to something other. Then, when applying update, stupid big O notification does not appear; I don't know about sound (my PC has sound turned off).
I hope in some sunny day some developer finds enough sense and allows to turn this stupid notification off. Forever.
One may always hope... -

I used this method to permanently disable the splashscreen for the ASKVG website

Works for me every time.

Does not work - there is no such flag in current Opera (at least not in dev version).
Also, why did you post info as image? On some sites you would be voted down immediately
