Only a part of this thread is loading:
      https://forums.opera.com/topic/1346/markdown/5
It will only show me the two first posts. But it's supposed to be FIVE posts in that thread.

      ยง

      ยง

And why can I not go directly to the first page of multi-page threads? Clicking a thread will take me to the first unread post. That is usually what I want, but often I want to open the first page to refresh my memory. Maybe there are no new posts, still I can't avoid being taken to the latest post.

A feature that takes us to the first unread post is needed, but it is not the only need. The forum software seems to be at an Alpha stage, and I'm impatient to see it develop. The old forum closed too early.

I've just found the same problem on the Forum Feedback section.
Several threads say they have new entries, but when I look, they're not there!
I've really tried to get used to this new forum, but I'm afraid that having to manually put code into posts to get back some basic forum post display options is just a nonsense.
How are people who aren't computer code savvy supposed to do that?
As I said in the other forum, whatever happened to the WYSIWYG principle? It certainly doesn't apply here!
I hate to think what people who use other online forums must think now when they come here.

Maybe there were new posts but these were detected as spam and deleted. I think that also happened in the old forums.

If you click on the thread title it should go to the first unread post.

                I've already got that.

But now I want a button "new replies for my topics" (meaning where I've got participation).

I'm afraid that any indication of what threads you've posted in is yet another of the basic forum functions that's missing here.

Thanks as always pesala, that's fine up to a point, but it's not really a substitute for having an indication on the actual thread that you've contributed to it, like every other forum I use has!

Pesala, they could as well realise that 'directory' as a header button, can't they?

I deleted my account (not this one, different one) and yet it's still available, the whole profile is intact, with posts, join date, gravatar and... subscribed posts for which I now get notifications! for fucks sake - if user wants to delete account please delete it and all data!

now also I find that I have to log in every time I come here.

Yep, i think it's happening to everyone. Kinda annoying but i guess i can live with that.

For some reason, Opera 12 is still logged in, while Opera 20/21 requires I log in every time ...

Gravatar is a third party service, so Opera is not required to get rid of your Gravatar should you remove your Opera account. However Gravatar does not allow users to remove their accounts, so you may be out of luck on that front, unfortunately.

Getting back to these forums, I would like a "Mark forum as read" for every forum here and "Mark all forums as read" function on the main forums index. It would help clear out old threads I haven't read (nor do I want to read) that still have the "New" indicator by it.

This is beyond retarded... so if I "remove" my account in Opera terms this simply means "get the f* out" because we still have your account with ALL details (including e-mail!) and will use them but you will not be able to log in again and so forth... If I had know so I would have change my e-mail before hitting delete button hence there wouldn't be a match to my gravatar!

Wrog window for profil preferences and flags - no buttons for saving or "flag this!". Problem occur on latest 8.0 and mini8.0next j2me with Opera Link enabled.

Lack of email filter at account creation can be a problem, check my account. User /suspecer/ is live and well but could be a spammer. ๐Ÿ™‚

This new forum really isn't made for technical support and helping people.

-There are zero options when you create or edit a post so we can't paste block of text with it's original formatting(like part of a config file for example), embed images to show an error message we're getting or show an odd behavior of some kind. Some people seem to be able to do it, but there's no indication or any help on how to achieve these essentials features for a support forum.

-It ignores single line breaks and there's no way to make more than one in a row so we get walls of text instead of properly broken down thoughts and ideas which makes it harder for others to understand us.

-The content is confined to the middle of the page(I'm guessing it has a fixed width or something) so there's a lot of usable space wasted(at least half the page at 1080p resolution) which would cause problems to display bigger pictures and wider code if one would know how to use those. It also makes it harder to follow a text when you have to change line twice as much when you're reading it.

-The webpage has to be refreshed every time one needs to press the edit or flag button which many people will interpret as meaning it can't be done or can only be done once.

-We can see our comments and discussion, but there's no way to see if someone replied to a discussion we didn't start ourselves other than opening it to see or searching for it in the section. This make opening a new discussion for already existing problems very attractive for those who aren't on the forum 24/7 so that they can easily see the answers.

-It's not possible to send private messages to other user to inform them of a change in a discussion, of a solution we want to make sure they've not missed among complex, confusing or off-topic comments or a more appropriate place to continue a somewhat off-topic discussion.

It looks like this was designed for smartphones and single thought comments which is a very bad choice for a technical support forum where people need to explain things in a lot of details to get proper help. I hope they reconsider before it's too late and switch to a more appropriate platform for the forum if they don't want to waste time modifying it into something usable for their purpose.

I know I won't be able to stand it for very long since it make helping others and getting help very hard and unpleasant.

I still don't understand why they didn't just keep the old forum, which had all the facilities needed.
Yes it needed drastic pruning and reorganisation, but that would surely have been a better option than starting from scratch with what must be one of the most user unfriendly forum setups I've ever used!
Still, as you say, it's all about touch screen smartphones and tablets now, and I guess this forum is better for them!
