@leocg I made a small video: https://gyazo.com/8897f92c83864943fa8231418e678fb9
You can see I'm clicking, nothing happens. It's frustrating when the mute for tab function stops working. Not only can it be disruptive to have multiple tabs playing sound at once, but it can also be distracting and make it difficult to focus. If you're experiencing this issue, try checking your browser settings to ensure that the function is enabled and that there are no conflicting extensions or plugins. Additionally, try clearing your cache and cookies or restarting your browser to see if that resolves the issue. If none of these solutions work, you may need to seek further assistance from your browser's support team or consider using a different browser that supports the feature

@gekamon That's really generic website feature advice, this is a browser issue. And the problem only occurred right after an Opera update without me changing anything to my browser settings. This feature also still works just fine in Firefox.
"Ensure the flag is enabled: Double-check that the "Tab audio muting UI control" flag is still enabled in the browser's settings. Sometimes browser updates or changes can reset certain flags, so it's worth verifying if it's still active."
Yes, and I never checked it before, so I only checked it when this problem occurred."Clear browser cache and cookies"
Yea, why don't I delete the usability features of my browser? No thanks. I opened Youtube in an incognito window where the feature does indeed work. -

@voswouter87 ( Yeap The PIN TABS Is what fixed my mute button ! )
I unpinned the 4 tabs I had "pinned" and the mute started working immediately.
No reboot or anything .. thanks for the tip! -

I have about 15 pinned tabs and that since years. It's absolutely no option for me to unpin them, then I would rather give up on the tab not being mutable.
For me, disabling multiple workspaces does the trick but here again, I need this.
Still waiting for a fix and I am wondering why this is taking so long for Opera as I doubt this is a hard thing to fix. -

Not working for me as well.
Tried Recovery and it worked for a day and then stopped working again.
Also tried the "Tab audio muting UI control" flag. Nothing changed.
The only thing that I didn't do was disable extensions since I prefer them to not having mute tab working. If I pin a tab then I can mute that tab and all tabs from the same site that I open after. If there's already a tab from that site opened before the pin that opened tab won't work.
Still works after unpin the tab if I keep at least 1 tab from that site open. When I close all tabs from that site then the mute stop working again and I have to pin a tab.
Pin tabs won't affect tabs of other sites. -

@jackmayolbk Yea it's pretty bad. I hope they fix this. Submitted a feature request.

@voswouter87 It's a bug, so submitting a feature request doesn't make any sense.

Same problem here.
What I found out is that the mute button seems to work but mutes wrong tabs. Might also be trying to mute non existing tabs as sometimes I canβt find one that is muted.
The problem seems to occur mostly while using several workspaces. I also had the problem between tabs in a single workspace but couldnβt replicate it.
Replicating the problem between workspaces is easy. I just open tabs in workspace 1 and in workspace 2. While I can mute the tabs in workspace 1 the tabs in workspace 2 either mute a tab in workspace 1 or no tab at all.System:
Opera GX LVL4 (core: 98.0.4759.56)
Update stream: Early Access
System: Windows 11 64-bit
Chromium version: 112.0.5615.165Windows 11 Pro 22H2 (22621.1702)

It's possible that there might be a bug or a recent update that caused the tab muting functionality to stop working in your browser. In addition to enabling the "Tab audio muting UI control" option in opera://flags, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Clear browser cache: Clearing the cache and browser data can help resolve any temporary glitches that may be affecting the tab muting feature.
Disable conflicting extensions: Temporarily disable any extensions or plugins that might be interfering with the tab muting functionality.
Update your browser: Ensure that your Opera browser is up to date with the latest version. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can address such issues.
Reset browser settings: As a last resort, you can try resetting your browser settings to their default values. This will revert any custom settings and potentially fix any misconfigurations that may be causing the problem.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be worth reaching out to Opera's support team or community forums to see if there are any known issues or specific solutions related to the tab muting problem you're experiencing.

Tried all of this .. nothing worked .. only thing that worked was to "unpin" all tabs.
And then the mute button started working on all windows just fine. -

Lets hope they fix it in version 99. They allowed to hide big red warning in Developer Tools so there is a chance they read this forum
