Opera Cashback

@hucker For me it was https://cashback.opera.com/ but you should get redirected to it by clicking the yellow "Cashback" button near the store web address in your browser and then partner sites, or something like that.

@operathor Clicking the yellow button lets me give an opinion, turn it on temporarily, or change settings, but nothing else.
https://cashback.opera.com/ provides a huge list of shops, clicking Ebay tells me it turned it on in 48 hours (WTF?) - no idea what link I need to copy to use as a bookmark.
This thing is badly coded, once on it should stay on!

@hucker Click it and it will redirect you to eBay, for example. Then just bookmark that address. It will contain the key. You can see it in the address bar (https://ebay.com/something-something&those-random-numbers-are-your-key)

@operathor I did so, copied the address, closed the browser, reopened it, pasted the address, but the cashback went yellow again. Maybe the key doesn't last between sessions?

How do I make cashback work on a mobile (Android)? I installed Opera but I see no way of activating any cashback.

@hucker It's available on Opera for Android?
Why are you asking me? I'm a user, you're a moderator, surely you'd be the one to know?

Thanks! So I use that link every time? What do I do instead of clicking the yellow cashback icon? I've found the other icon takes 48 hours, or maybe it lies and if I've done it before it will be immediate?

@macomicha I agree what you're saying.
Every where i go there's this (Cash - popup) which is very annoying and irritating.

Indeed, why can't I just turn it on once and it lasts forever? Clearly I want the cashback on every purchase!
And why TWO popups? I get one on the top left and one on the top right!

@hucker instead of activation via badge or extension(yellow cashback icon), on mobile you can activate via "Start shopping" button only. It doesn't matter which way you will activate the cashback, it takes an average 48 hours to get your transaction tracked from the merchant.

@kashifweb hey, could you please share more information about that issue? What is your OS and browser version, reproduction steps, video or screenshot will be more than helpful!

Is there a way to stop the desktop browser having two popups? Badge OR extension, we don't need both!
Even better why can't it just stay activated all the time?
The 48 hours thing is ambiguous, I thought it meant I couldn't shop with cashback for 48 hours.

@hucker hey, answering your question:
@hucker said in Opera Cashback:

it's a better way to activate cashback each time before the purchase to make sure that you will get it tracked, and other services won't overwrite parameters from the link.

you probably have cashback badge enabled and extension together, if you are using Opera browser you can stick to one, badge or extension solution

The only badge is enabled by default(can be disabled in browser settings), the Opera Cashback extension you can install or remove by yourself(opera://extensions -> Opera Cashback -> disable via switcher).

We can't decide for user to activate cashback or not that's why It's very important to activate cashback before the each purchase in the shop before the purchase.

Please share where exactly the copy isn't really clear. Thanks!

I get Nectar points from Ebay too, and that's just permalinked. This needs to be done in a smoother way, I assume at the moment it's doing some clumsy system of adjusting the URL? As it is, I only get cashback from Opera 50% of the time, because well, people are forgetfull!

Ah, thanks. I've disabled the extension and the badge remains. But why are there two methods?

In the extension, when I click activate it says "Cashback will be automatically added to your account in 48 hours." The first time it did this I assumed it was a setup time, and I wouldn't start earning cashback until 2 days had passed. But it says the same thing every time. To me it sounds like the purchase I'm about to make will not get cashback, because my signing up hasn't completed for another 48 hours. I would suggest adding "from this purchase" so it says "Cashback for this purchase will be automatically added to your account in 48 hours".

@katarzynamos: The information that you can either use Opera Cashback or Genius is a statement of Opera's official support, I can send you this email, I still have it. Thanks for the advices, but don't you find it a bit strange that for each transaction over 100e I "forgot" to activate the cashback, but cheaper transactions are always credited very quickly? Dozens of proper transactions over 100e were not charged on my account, and sending emails with bills, screenshots etc. doesn't help, Opera's support just doesn't respond. So yes, this is cheating and tricking people.

It needs to be reprogrammed so it's always on. Why should we have to remember?
