@leocg I have searched both the Opera and Chrome extension repositories and tried all that looked like they might work and none let me configure themselves the way the ones I had on my old machine worked. Most default to Gmail. There I can post via my Dreamhost account but I have to use the Gmail interface.

@modemjunkie If you still have the old ones, you may be able to install them in the new computer.

@leocg The old drives were installed in the new computer in addition to the new drives which came with the PC. (The old PC had a problem on the motherboard that prevented it from booting.) But while I can access the files on the old drives I can't run software from there, And searches of the old Opera folders don't yield anything I can identify as extensions.

@modemjunkie From the extensions manager page you can install extensions from their folders in other Opera installations, just enable developer mode and use the option to load unpacked.

@leocg So, on the old drive, which is only storage now, not active, What kind of files should I be looking for?

@modemjunkie Success. I tried so many things to set Thunderbird as my default email in Opera, I am not sure what worked. But I went into one of the old installations and clicked on the launcher. And voila, when I tried the mailto apps they did what I wanted, Thank you all for your patience. I have been using Opera since 1995

@modemjunkie It would be the Extensions folder in Opera's profile directory.

Still no ffmpeg video codec package for 82.0.4227.4 and its Chrome 96.0.4664.18.

@thelittlebrowserthatcould There's a libffmpeg for Vivaldi Snapshot that's built for Chromium 96 at https://repo.herecura.eu/herecura/x86_64/. That one might work for you.

@burnout426: Many thanks, I hadn't noticed that was available. Renamed the extension and it works fine.

With 82.0.4227.4 I'm getting runaway memory and CPU usage with UK regional newspaper sites. I can escape the problem if I disable JavaScript (with JS Allow extension) in time.
