Background audio from youtube in Opera is still not working. You have to help yourself with the chrome browser, e.g. copying the link from it to Opera.

@adam1709 If it works with the link that you get on Chrome, then YouTube is sending Opera a different link with different information. So it's a YouTube issue.
And, as far as I know, YouTube prevents those that are not on YouTube Premium from using it in background.

@leocg: In chrome, when I turn on the desktop mode, I can listen in the background. In Opera, unfortunately, it does not work, when I lock the screen and turn it on, the bar quickly disappears. However, when I copy the chrome link and paste it into Opera it works. Why? I noticed that the chrome link is different - it contains "desktop", etc., and in Opera no such annotation is created after switching on the statioinary mode.
In chrome I am on the same account as in Opera. Here and there is no premium. See for yourself that the link is different.
Since the last update, from what I can see, the chrome link works in Opera both in stationary mode and without it. -

@leocg: No I've never used it, but I checked in quick now and it doesn't really make a difference.
I would like to point out that it used to work in Opera (playing in the background, i.e. with the screen off), and it has stopped for some time. It always works on chrome. It seems to me that youtube changed something or blocked background playback, but on the other hand, this theory doesn't make sense, because chrome and youtube are one family ... it's just that something has changed, chrome has adjusted the changes, and Opera has not . Please take a look at the address after changing to the stationary mode and compare them. The beginning of ".m" disappears from chrome and "desktop" appears next to the address. Nothing changes in the address in Opera. -

@leocg: Other sites? maybe give an example. I looked at bitchute.com quickly, no problem, but I didn't have to use even the desktop mode. I think it should be an example similar to youtube, because here it is specific, in theory youtube blocked this possibility.
