      @artmakersworlds That's not the section I've mentioned.

@leocg I have looked everywhere. Killed a few hours searching youtube videos. I cannot find any place to turn it off!!!!!
        Your answers are not helping.

        Again, in settings....
I have clicked on just about every topic in preferences/settings.

So.... how about spelling this out.

        Under preferences...
        Settings....

        where now?

@artmakersworlds There is a section called Start Page where you should find an option to Enable Speed Dials suggestions. Just disable it

@leocg Ok, I do [shouting removed] a section called "start page." It is simply not there. I [shouting removed] have a section called "on start up." And [Shouting removed]about suggestions.

[Shouting removed] "start page" is a dinky little "advanced" so looking in there,
(Again the road map was never laid out, I found that.)
There is a start page. And.. haha... show speed dial suggestions
            Is already off!
So why am I getting them anyway?

(GOD I wish companies would NOT shove garbage at us we do not want. I don't need, want, or care about anyone else's ideas on what I want to look at. I know what I want to look at. Get this useless promotional crap out of my way.)

@artmakersworlds Then you will need to explain better what you want.

Under Settings > Advanced > Browser, the first section is named "Start page". There are settings there whether to receive promoted speed dials (the ones Opera sometimes adds after updates), whether to show the Suggestions section, whether to show the News section, etc. Just look.

                    @sgunhouse @leocg

Surprise. I'm back. I contacted support directly and spelled out this whole mess.
So one last follow up post and I will consider this closed ok?

First, about the occasional word or sentence in all caps.
                    I'm sorry.
This forum board seems to have bold or underline but it's not working right. If I make one word bold, I can't edit anything else in the whole post. Only one per post I guess. Using all caps is the only other option to highlight something important and I've been doing that for years, hard habit to break. So sorry for exploding your ears with a few all caps words. Hope you recover.

However, leocg posts "stop shouting" and right after is another admin post saying I need to explain what I want. (Thought I explained it pretty well but clearly you can read.)
But then before I even came back to see both of those or reply, I was banned from this forum? What is wrong with you people?
Support undid it. And don't worry, this is it for me.

So I am going to include just a portion of what I wrote to support and only for the benefit of anyone else with this same issue along with a walk around since this seems to not be fixable. The very last admins post is flat out wrong and of no help what so ever. This browser is broken, and clearly it will just stay broken.

This is long only because the actual path to find suggestions turned out to be long.

So what I wrote to support.....

That last post is from a different moderator.
                    Copy:
"Under Settings > Advanced > Browser, the first section is named "Start page".

Can these people not read at all? "First section is named start page."
Not on mine! I have it open right now. Will leave out all the sub categories, here are the main ones.
                    I have...

Note, first section is privacy and not start page!!!!!
                    Here.

                    1. Privacy
                    2. Wallpapers
                    3. Appearance
                    4. Quick access
                    5. Sidebar
                    6. Synchronization
                    7. Search engine
                    8. Default browser
                    9. ON startup >>>>> read above where I pasted in the entire contents of that one, none have anything to do with suggestions.

At the bottom of that page, centered it says "advanced" with a tiny triangle under it.
Makes no sense to me why my advanced settings page needs a link to advanced, rather than just keep scrolling down, or page two or something more logical, but in any case I tried clicking the microscopic arrow and ah ha, more.
                    So page 2...

                    1. Privacy and security (long list of sub topics there.)
                    2. Autofill
                    3. WEB RTC
                    4. VPN

                    6. Instant Search
                    7. My flow
                    8. Crypto Wallet
                    9. Search Pop Up
                    10. Video pop out
                    11. Personal news

Here we are. Not the first topic, the 21st on the second page.
And notice, speed dial suggestions is already OFF.
(See screenshot) So why am I getting them????

I would have liked to have posted that long list to the jerk who said it's the first section. Clearly even that tid bit of information is wrong.
Also that very last post, "Under Settings > Advanced > Browser, the first section is named "Start page".
I should post here the rest of the topics because not one of them is "browser."
                    22. user interface
                    23. Languages
                    24. downloads
                    25. System
                    26. shortcuts
                    27. reset settings.

So tell me how I screwed up here? See browser anywhere? I sure don't. And again, once I found the speed dial suggestions, it's already off. Clearly somewhere there is a problem here.

Meanwhile I found my own fix, since I do only use this browser for one game site, I set that site to be my start page. Rather than opening a blank page and clicking bookmarks like I always have on several browsers before this one, and I mean going all the way back to netscape, I have always opened a blank window then go where I want. Not on this one, meaning all those dumb suggestions have to load first. Now I just get right to my game page. No more suggestions, and I hope I never need to use this browser on any other sites.
But still.... the setting is off, why was I getting them at all? And why was I banned from this forum? Just for being led in circles and losing it after three rounds of useless wrong answers and then typing a few words in all caps? Oh the horror.

You have 30 minutes from the original posting time to edit it. The fact that you use bolded text or not makes no difference on it.

Writing in caps mean that you are shouting and nothing else.

And why was I banned from this forum?

Because you were shouting. And also because:

Don’t write in all caps; and leave swearing, rudeness and flaming at the door.

@artmakersworlds On the left you don't see a menu with Basic and Advanced and below Advanced, Privacy and Security, Features and Browser?

                        Start page settings: opera://settings/startPage

It's the correct setting? Are you really talking about speed dials/bookmarks suggestions? Or it would be the promoted ones? There is a setting to disable them too.

What part of I am done did you miss? You clearly are not capable of helping anyone. You can't read, don't give clear instructions, and I posted an easy fix. Set the start page to go somewhere, not blank and all the crap stops.

Now once again I am done. This is the most snarky and useless forum I have ever been on.
