Opera won't start...

...unless I click a link in email! Stop me if you've heard this one. I cannot launch Opera with it's own icon/shortcut. BUT, if I click a link in an email, it brings Opera right up.
What gives?!

What if you browse right to Opera's program files folder and double-left-click on launcher.exe? Does that at least work?
You can also right-click on the Opera shortcut (or right-click on the Opera pinned taskbar icon and right click on "Opera Browser) and goto "properties". On the shortcut tab, you can look at the target field to make sure the command to launcher.exe is correct.
Example (when installed for all users):
"C:\Program Files\Opera\launcher.exe"
or for the current user only:
"C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\local\programs\Opera\launcher.exe" (I think)
Did you recently update Windows?

Is that related to this thread?

@laland2k I was assuming the OP didn't get an error when trying to launch via Opera's shortcut and that Opera runs fine when it's launched right, and that the OP doesn't get an error like that. So, I was thinking your issue is something different/separate. But, no biggie.
I'd delete your program files folder and reinstall Opera to make sure your program files are all in tact and no corrupted. If that doesn't help, I'd look into profile issues by renaming your profile folders so Opera creates new ones to see if things work fine then. If so, you might have to keep those new profile folder or figure out how to fix the old profile folder without Opera being able to run with it.

This worked. Before I attempted it, I backed up my speed dials and made sure I was in sync. Once I got Opera restarted, all I had to do was sign in and sync up. Seems to be working fine now!
